  2. Haven't done fantasy baseball in a couple of years, but I might do it.
  3. Buried in the rumors that the then-named Miami Marlins will play host to the All-Star Game in 2015, I came across this nugget: The New York Mets will apparently play host in 2013 with an A.L. city getting the nod in 2012 and 2014. The last time the Mets hosted the All-Star Game, of course, was in 1964. I, for one, would love to see the game played on home soil.
  4. Someone's setting himself up for disappointment.
  5. Bagwell, I feel, should go in. And Ashie, you're being ridiculous.
  6. First ballot.
  7. I didn't realize he'd been hanging in Barry Bonds limbo.
  8. And what, exactly, prompted this post?
  9. I can picture a Mount Rushmore-type statue/bust-type thing featuring four great Mets managers.
  10. I kind of like how Cincinnati did their statues - arranged in the middle of a game. I'd love to see Seaver pitching to Piazza with Strawberry at the plate.
  11. Instead of a statue of a batter in mid-swing, I propose that whatever hitter we choose to immortalize - whether Strawberry, Piazza, or whomever - they should be posed like this: Breaking out of the box, much more action and movement to it.
  12. It seems more like a wash to me - we haven't brought up too many impact players but we've managed to fleece other teams for theirs. But then, I don't agree with that statement anyway.
  13. I'd like to hear a podcast with Edgy and Josh Fruhlinger.
  14. But you are listening to the other talking heads on the air. Look, sports is like politics - everyone can go and make predictions, but predictions are frequently wrong, especially the farther out from the action you really are. My first rule of politics is this - don't listen to pundits. The talking heads on sports radio, TV, and print are the same thing for sports - pundits. And they're frequently wrong. There's no reason to listen to them.
  15. Steve, one question: Why are you listening to Mike Francesa?
  16. Toronto's statue looks like something out of a Ralph Steadman drawing.
  17. Well that's where we had him in the first place anyway.
  18. I wasn't aware that Flint Marko played baseball.
  19. Keef is giving Murphy and Evans first base lessons: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Arbfk.B0o5IjfZ3C25qGEksRvLYF?slug=ap-mets-murphy-hernandez&prov=ap&type=lgns
  20. Return of the Jake-Monster? No shit? Wow.
  21. Nails has started a new website, http://www.nailsinvestments.com, where for $89 a month, you get access to Dykstra's stock tips. Of course, this is the same man who tried to hock his '86 World Series ring a few months ago, has been accused of fraud by his mother and his brothers, and has over 20 lawsuits pending against him, including one by the best man at Dykstra's wedding.
  22. The question I'm asking is, why are they holding onto #24? Unofficial retirement for Mays and/or Rickey?
