  1. How about a compromise? Although I'd rather keep things the way they are, here's what I propose: 10-point maximum 6 to 10-point minimum (we can debate this) maximum of 6 points per player minimum of two players receiving votes (after all, the whole point was to avoid screwing the also-rans)
  2. Exactly. It'll be a while before I start going back in time, though.
  3. I haven't listed/ranked them yet. This is just raw data.
  4. They're freshmen, but they're like best friends already.
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=rotowire-engieolinaeadedtoewo&prov=rotowire&type=lgns Bengie Molina headed to New York? Molina, a free agent after the season, may be targeted by both the Mets and Yankees this offseason, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. Molina, one of the best defensive catchers in the game, batted .295 with 19 homers and 69 RBI in 119 games during the regular season, and could be in line for a huge payday in free agency. The other catcher the Mets figure to pursue is Ramon Hernandez.
  6. It looks like they're not talking after tonight.
  7. It's a repeat of last year. Hopefully it will be just as dramatic, if not more so.
  8. Team that hasn't won it in 88 years vs. team that's never won it in its 44-year history. Either way, a fan base will rid itself of its suffering.
  9. One person does not a team make. Just because Roger Clemens pitches for the Astros, doesn't mean any one of us here should root against them. He's one of 25 people. But the Braves are the Braves. I hate the Braves. Thank God the Astros won. I was rooting for them, and I'm happy. Chicago-Houston Dream Series still on the table...
  10. The Braves have left THIRTY-FIVE men on base. They have had SEVENTY-EIGHT plate appearances.
  11. I live in a co-ed dorm. Down the hall, there's a room of two girls. One is a Braves fan, and the other is an Astros fan. I just paid them a visit. They're hysterical. My roommate is making them go get dinner now to calm them down.
  12. Brian Jordan batting. Only Estrada remains on the bench.
  13. Brian McCann: 1-8, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 10 LOB. Edit: Plus 4 K's.
  14. Our longest postseason game in history record has fallen. Top 17.
  15. Well I don't know HOW they did it, except that they were made using real statistics. Something to do with home runs per game, RBI per game, all that. Problem is, I don't know how they put those stats together.
  16. Looking at the box score, I see some things I can't say I remember ever seeing: E. Bruntlett ss-cf-ss-cf R. Clemens ph-p J. Vizcaino ss-1b-ss B. Ausmus c-1b-c
  17. Vizcaino's coming up this inning.
  18. The 43-year-old Clemens facing the 47-year-old Julio Franco.
  19. Cairo should be jettisoned immediately. We'll get a backup - oh wait, we could bring up Daubach and we're set. Marlon Anderson could fill Cairo's duties.
  20. I remember growing up, watching sitcom reruns on TBS, and then at least once a show, during a commercial break, there would be some random old Braves player hawking the Braves yearbook or sweatshirt or something. It confused the hell out of me when I was 10 years old.
  21. We never should have traded Wheeler. He's become nearly lights-out since he went to Houston.
  22. For catchers. You wait for the first basemen.
  23. Have you ever had a gut feeling that someone belongs somewhere? Have you ever tried to see into the future of the Mets, trying to figure out who will be here when we win our next World Series? I've had a couple of flashes of this feeling. It feels like putting a stone puzzle piece in the right place. Here's who I've felt this way about, which has been a little strange at times even for me: David Wright (the cornerstone at the hot corner) Jose Reyes (although something tells me we trade him at some point) Carlos Beltran (well, maybe just because we're stuck with him) Mike Jacobs (me being there for his debut home run felt like an omen) Heath Bell (I don't know why, but he'll be there) Aaron Heilman (he'll still be here) Juan Padilla (Shades in the bullpen) Willie Randolph (this was the weirdest one, I see him at least taking us to the World Series) Omar Minaya (though he might go in about 4-5 years) But enough about sixth sense rubbish. What prompted this was a stat concerning Mike Jacobs. Now I don't know how Yahoo Sports does their fantasy rankings, but I happened to look under Season Average for first basemen, and here's how the rankings looked: Derrek Lee Albert Pujols Mike Jacobs Mark Teixeira David Ortiz Travis Hafner If Mike Jacobs is in THAT kind of company, I don't want to hear another word about Paul Konerko.
  24. This is the first of my position analysis series for 2005. This series will hopefully demonstrate my hypothesis that 2005 was a turning point in terms of moving from one generation of major leaguers to the next. The data is not sorted yet, and I may end up making some sort of table, but I don't know how to yet. 25. Oh look, Mike Morgan. Didn't he set a record for most teams played for?
