  1. Remember those Kaz-Cairo debates? Seems like ancient history now.
  2. If he truly has finally figured out how to play here, I wouldn't be against taking another look at him.
  3. From MLB.com: ]PHILADELPHIA -- The Rockies weren't too busy winning to try to help a family through the worst kind of loss. Manager Clint Hurdle revealed Thursday that the team last week voted a full playoff share to Amanda Coolbaugh, whose husband, Mike Coolbaugh, was killed when hit by a foul ball while coaching first base for the Rockies' Double-A Tulsa squad on July 22. Hurdle said the gesture "speaks to their awareness, speaks to their passion, speaks to their ... I don't know, everything good about them." Rookie shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who was with Hurdle at a press conference when the manager revealed the players' decision, said some of the veteran players brought up the idea and the rest of the squad agreed. "We decided as a team ... it was the right thing to do," Tulowitzki said. At the time of the incident, Coolbaugh, 35, and his wife had two children, Joseph, 5, and Jacob, 3, and were expecting their third child this month.
  4. I think there would be no way for Bobby V and The Jacket to co-exist. They both think they're the smartest guy in the room.
  5. The Daily News is reporting that Rick Peterson will likely be kept on.
  6. Can't get this damn song out of my head now:
  7. Holy crap, I just had deja vu.
  8. I don't doubt it, especially in Reyes' case. All that running would make one tired.
  9. I've just met someone who knows Ken Young, the Tides owner, quite well. She says that Young told her that it was the Mets who wanted to end the relationship with the Tides, and that the Mets only came back at the last minute when they realized they would get stuck with New Orleans.
  10. It's Angels and Red Sox.
  11. Oh my freaking God. Frank Caliendo is getting his own TV show. This may be the best news I've heard in weeks!
  12. Seriously, that is a shocker. I imagine he rockets to the top of every team's wish list among teams looking for a GM.

If Albert Pujols were to suffer some kind of injury that never let him play as well again, and he played three more full seasons and retired, would you vote him in? I would. His first 7 seasons have been absolutely monstrous. He wouldn't be eligible to even get to a vote. Of course he would. You're eligible after you've played in 10 seasons. And it doesn't have to be 10 complete seasons - a cup of coffee would technically count, but depending on how good you were in other years, it's up to the Screening Committee to deem you worthy.

  15. Well, Pedro brings energy and excitement. Glavine's pretty mellow. I'd hesitate to compare the two, it was completely different.
  16. We don't know. Hard to tell with Willie. But apparently, he has. He might look like a cipher while he's in the dugout, but apparently there's a lot more to him.
  17. When do we want to start working on the rankings?
  18. According to the Daily News, when the Mets brought Willie in, they expected him to be malleable, a pushover, because he had no previous managerial experience. However, that's proven to not be the case, and Willie has exerted his will. I think that's a good sign.
  19. NLDS: Rockies in 4, Cubs in 5 ALDS: Indians in 4, Red Sox in 5 NLCS: Cubs in 7 ALCS: Indians in 6 World Series: Indians in 5
  20. Pittsburgh hired a GM, one of Shapiro's assistants in Cleveland.
  21. Willie's had that mustache for a long time, so I dunno. Maybe he's trying to craft a new image for his players.
  22. Of course I'll look at his time here fondly. He did pretty well for us, and I hold nothing against him.
