  1. Hey! McNeil AB without LOB! Still will take some doing.
  2. He was all over the place AND nibbling. He was like Uber-OldWheeler. Super Saiyan OldWheeler. More OldWheeler than actual old Wheeler. It's unsettling.
  3. Hypothesis: Binghamton's home park depresses home team performance, because it's the place where they have to play with "Rumble Ponies" across their chests.
  4. Better lucky than good.
  5. Cripes, does this smell like a loss already.
  6. And thanks to yesterday's interesting bullpen usage, now you can't bring in Diaz OR Familia to close.
  7. =LWFS post_id=6140 time=1554256089 user_id=84] I'm cool with the bunt idea, too. Meanwhile, Lugo is the first Met pitcher tonight who's pitching his first inning like he actually warmed up.
  8. Yeowch. AGAIN with the hands.

  11. Lagares last night, Nimmo tonight, Turner in Washington tonight... What's up with all the hand-hitting lately?
  12. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Gary on Dom Smith: “He's turning into Tony Gwynn!” I love Sleepy Dom. I just want to make his headband into a nightcap, or at least a do-rag that looks like a nightcap.
  13. Everyone's kinda staggering through this business now.
  14. Lost in the slow, painful Vargasian shuffle here is that the Mets offense has done absolute jack cheese since the second.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, it's one run through three, but I'm not quite sure how he's doing it. Pluck and elbow grease. Or split-end grease. Or eyebrow grease. Tough to tell, really.
  16. Vargas looks like he's worried about the double-shift he's going to work later DJing tonight at Scandals or Bazooms or some such.
  17. Maybe our slogan this year is: "Fuck Your Shift?"
  18. While flipping around between workout and dinner earlier, I happened to alight on SNY for one of the ShoutyGuys shows, and ShoutyGuy One (Sal Somethingorother?) was decrying Matz's inconsistency, saying that he'd rather have Vargas' 3-4 runs/5 innings, because "you know what you're getting." ShoutyGuy Two candy-assedly agreed. TLDR: Probably don't want to watch SNY when it's not pregame, game, or postgame.
  19. We're back to the top of the order. At 23 minutes and counting, this half-inning's verging on a half-hour.
  20. Dominic Smith: Shift Killer

From the few at-bats I've seen, it looks like he's taken this advice too much to heart. He's chasing after crap pitches with weak swings. Very un-Nimmo like. But, yeah...two hits tonight when he pinch hits for Vargas leading off the eighth and we bat around and score five. Vargas is in the middle of a shutout, but he's thrown 102 pitches and Mickey doesn't want to push him too hard in his first appearance. You heard it here first. It's very early, granted. The approach does seem a little different. Chili's influence?
  22. I mean, given just a little bit of debt-related pressure, the guy defrauded his mother to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars, without a second thought. Dykstra's long been in that figurative place in my mind (and, I think, in the public consciousness) that Bill Simmons used to call "The Tyson Zone." You could promulgate almost any story on earth about the guy's depravity, and I'd probably assume it was true.
  23. Best pitch of the inning, that last one.
  24. Diaz is still all over the plate, missing his target by a foot or two. The Marlins just have no idea what they're doing at the dish, either.
