  1. #TrumpMask, of course, was gone by the end of the seventh.
  2. What's the prize of your collection?
  3. Neighborhood kids keep messing with the displays, switching the ages with uni numbers and the like.
  4. Marte goes down with two on and seventh becomes the first inning in which the Mets don't cross the plate. Nido had three hits and I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting as much as half the starts behind the plate to start the season. Flushing's own Jaylen Palmer comes on in center.
  5. Sheesh, I think his companion might actually be encouraging him. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2022/04/screen-shot-2022-04-03-at-3.41.47-pm.png>
  6. Welcome to the pool, m8644. ZIPS likes the deal for the Mets, projecting 0.9 fWAR for Rodriguez vs. 0.5 for Castro.
  7. Row three on the aisle. You can't take that guy anywhere. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2022/04/screen-shot-2022-04-03-at-3.24.12-pm.png>
  8. NAME: Jeff McNeil AGE: [CROSSOUT]1[/CROSSOUT] 30 POSITION: Second Base (and 3b and lf and rf) NUMBER: [CROSSOUT]30[/CROSSOUT] 1 NICKNAME: "Squirrel," "Flying Squirrel," "JT," "McNutty fWAR IN 2021: 0.5 ZIPS PROJECTION FOR 2022: 2.8 I'm Jeff McNeil, working on my third uniform number in five seasons. I may be the Mets best contact hitter since ... John Olerud? But I also have a chronic case of red ass and a not-unrelated head-in-ass condition that can flare up on occasion. I was pretty damn bad last year, but I was rock solid for three years before that, and there's no reason to think that ability isn't still within me, looking to come out. But those conditions can make a guy counterproductive for a stretch — in part because they aren't conducive to teaminess. I need to be teamier, and stay on top of my game. Can I do this? If so, what sort of outlook do you see for my 2022? 9. Nimmo blows minds by going the other way against the shift, and the Mets have scored in every inning. Smart baseball is the way to go.
  10. The Mets fan in Row 3 behind the plate has a Donald Trump paper mask on a stick.
  11. As noted in another thread, the Mets send the lanky reliever Bronxward for a lefty. Almost as lethal as Edwin Diaz, and that's saying something, but even more self-sabotaging, and that's also saying something.
  12. Don't hate the playa. Hate the game. Not very mature, but probably an honest expression of what most players' attitudes are or would have been. I would kind of hope for more buck-stopping and less buck-passing from a manager, though.
  13. That's a costly swap. The Mets are giving up about six inches there.
  14. Wanna get some action on how many games he appears in?
  15. NAME: Brandon Nimmo AGE: 29 or possibly 7 POSITION: Center Field (rf and lf) NUMBER: 9 NICKNAME: "Nimms," "Tater" fWAR IN 2021: 3.0 ZIPS PROJECTION FOR 2022: 2.8 Full, complete seasons have never been my forte. But getting on base certainly is. Hi, I'm Brandon Nimmo. I'm so clean and dorky, I make David Wright look crunk. Does anybody even say crunk anymore? I do, which gives you an idea just how dorky I am. But I'm a dork who can play baseball. I've reached base at a .400+ clip three of the last four years, and while I'm athletic enough to do a lot more than that, it's all been full of owies, which has stunted my growth a bit, as well as made me something of a less-than-reliable figure. A full season from me will probably be a blessing to the Mets, but what happens when these injuries stop fully healing and have a cumulative effect? Ask yourself that! Ask yourself while telling me what my 2022 will look like. None of you suckers had an opinion about Eduardo Escobar, but I'm me. And you know me. 16. That's the virtue of soft retirement. When the time comes around for a hard retirement, there aren't a bunch of Mike Scoscias saying, "Retired for him? What the hell am I?"
  17. I may be cherry picking, but I tend to think the Mets have gotten swindled (outscouted, anyhow) whenever they've dealt with Billuh Beane.
  18. I'd be disappointed to find out any athlete with a long term contract on the line doesn't consult with outside physicians before taking team-retained physicians at their word.
  19. Wow. That just makes me want to develop a gambling addiction and renew my gym membership all at once.
  20. The Cardinals feed I'm watching here has the Bally B as a watermark in the corner of the screen.
  21. Mets have some guys from deep in the system out there. Warren Saunders at first. Wyatt Young at second. Rowdey Jordan in right. It actually sounds like the cast from a pretty decent western.
  22. Well, it might have been April 1 if the news first appeared on a server in the UK or something.
  23. NAME: Eduardo Escobar AGE: 33 POSITION: Third Base (and everywhere else) NUMBER: 10 NICKNAME: El De La Pica fWAR IN 2021: 3.0 ZIPS PROJECTION FOR 2022: 2.9 Somewhere in a big free agency frenzy, the Mets grabbed me up. I'm probably going to be a thirdbaseman, but I may play second or short or a different position every day. I know that's pretty ambiguous for a guy who is projected to have the fifth-highest fWAR on the team, but versatile everyday utility types can have that kind of value. That's why it was a big deal when the Mets got Bill Pecota and when they got Jed Lowrie and wh ... well, maybe I should shut up now. Yeah, maybe you want to shop for super-utility guys on a lower shelf and catch a Desi Relaford or a Jonathan Villar in a good year, but the Mets went big on me, and I'm going to sit here and say they know what they are doing. I've got five kids to feed and I'm a Venezuelan infielder (though I've somehow never worn 13) that still has some VALUE. But value is an abstract thing. You've got to tell me what my 2022 season will look like in the REAL WORLD. 24. "Baserunner wasn't that far out of the line, but he didn't slide until after he had reached the bag, and it's totally the sort of jerky thing he might do." "Pitcher threw the bat fragment at the runner. He claims he was just tossing it aside. But he really put some oomph into the throw and seemed to be laser-locked on the batter-runner when he did it. He's being ejected from the game for this infraction and probably suspended from the remainder of the series, just for the common good. God bless America."
  25. That's great. Colón might have been my first call.
