  1. Milwaukee is joined in their still-alive-ness by three entries from The Pesky West — San Francisco, Arizona, and Colorado. All have a non-zero elimination number, but it would take a cataclysmic turn of events for any of them to qualify for post-season play.Colorado should be eliminated tonight. The main remaining drama: Can the Brewers catch the Phils or Pads for the last playoff spot? Can the Mets hold off the Braves for the division titie and bye? Both those plots get played out in one game tonight.
  2. Let 'em all be concerned, but six up and six down with five K's is an impression.
  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I voted Walker. You mentioned Jon Niese, but Bartolo Colon also switched to the bullpen in 2015 for the postseason. As did Rick Aguilera in 1986. Yeah, but I didn't really see an uptick in Bartolo's stuff. He didn't really have much in the way of stuff, in the sense of speed and movement — just pinpoint control and an unflappable demeanor. Bartolo was Bartolo.
  4. I don't know. Trends change.

  7. We've reached fitty-four and a third. Sitty is within reach!
  8. The Mets could have used Daniel Vogelbach at second base that game.
  9. There's a good chance that the Mets may sit Diaz back down.
  10. "Underwood, Jr." sounds like deviled ham without alcohol.
  11. Nimmo should have run about six times. I guess he's shy about running on a lefty.
  12. Not quite sure why Allen pulled up instead of diving for that ball. It's not like it was gong to roll past him.
  13. Guillorme didn't really seem to be seeing the ball well that at-bat.
  14. That LOB column says "23." Them's individual totals, the team total is 10.
  15. Me getting in from mowing: "I'm going to turn on my computer! It had better be 6-0 Mets!" Me clicking the mlb.tv button: "It's 3-0! That's good! But oh, shit, Oneil Cruz is up with two on! I had better tune in before they tie it with a three-run homer!" Me, as the mlb.tv feed comes up: "Ah, shit! If only I was a second faster! This is all on ME!"

  17. Good call. One of the Tennessee Valley Authority projects, no doubt. Probably Fontana Dam. I don't know the dates of these cards, but my first five Tennesse spots would all be musical — The Ryman Auditorium, Graceland, Sun Studios, Stax studios, and Dollywood.
  18. State Capitol buliding, University of Tennesse's Neyland Stadium, a scenic overlook possibly into the Tennessee Valley, the Nashville Parthenon, and ... SeaWorld?
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: Chavis not looking regal on the final out of the game. It's really goofy how Pittsburgh's shortstop is a head taller than their firstbaseman.

  23. Ronnie's right. That track of him trolling on the 7 train isn't a good take.
