  1. Gary kind of called that homer by commenting on Yacabonis reverting to his lesser form.
  2. Really tough strike three call against Alonso. The pitch was slow enough that anybody would have swung if it was over the plate. Keith would tell you, though, that you've got to protect with two strikes.
  3. Great eye by Lindor to load the bases.
  4. Appeared on four Hall-of-Fame ballots, peaking at 8.9% of the vote. Along with Bud Black, he was one half of the coolest double-header starting corps when the Royals came at you with Black and Blue.
  5. A few years down the road, we could have two players who missed time with depression/anxiety/mental health issues (Zack Greinke and Joey Votto) enter the Hall of Fame at the same time.

  7. Not so much. Frayed Knot wrote: As Ronnie said, not only would that not have been accepted as an excuse in his day but you'd be ridiculed for even bringing it up. Ronnie says this sort of thing a lot, and it makes me wonder just how toxic that 1980s Mets clubhouse was, and who were the guys that kept the toxins flowing. Because it's not a stretch to think that he's implicating the guy who usually sits to his right.
  8. Let's go, Bottom-of-the-Eighth-Mets!!
  9. Hopefully, whiffing the side can be something to carry over.
  10. Lindor second, McNeil third, and Marte sixth. That's the lineup I'm looking for tomorrow.
  11. I'd like to see a little of Escobar in the outfield.
  12. Syracuse were down 3-0 and 7-2 hosting Lehigh Valley tonight before finally entering the ninth down 7-6, before a two-out double by Khalil Lee tied everything up. Stupid rules happen though, and with help from the magic runner, Lehigh Valley went back up 9-7 in the top of the 11th. Two good comebacks deserve a third, and the Mets tied it up on another Khalil Lee double, this time good for two runs. Lehigh Valley then walked Michael Perez intentionally to pitch to a rehabbing Tim Locastro with one out. He makes a lot of soft contact and is a terrible double-play candidate, so I don't quite know what they were thinking, but damned if the Mets didn't win it in the oddest way, with Locastro reaching on a bases-loaded catcher's interference call. D.J. Stewert, Jaylin Davis, and Danny Mendick all went deep for Syracuse, with Ronny Mauricio collecting three more hits to raise his batting average to .353.
  13. One star out of five. Ouch. And yet a five as well. The war goes on.
  14. The mindful meditation is an interesting wrinkle. I hope it goes over well.
  15. May 5 in The Washington Post. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/05/screen-shot-2023-05-05-at-9.08.56-pm.png>
  16. So many guys were on base the last few innings, even if the game had moved along at good clip up until that point, I would imagine the pitchers slowing the heck out of it under prior rules.
  17. Well, that was a tight squeeze. I'll take it.
  18. Otto went right down the middle for strike three on Mous.
  19. =ashie62 post_id=124492 time=1683335844 user_id=90] Nido freaking sucks

Buck stuck with Nido here and Vogey (rather than, say, Cahna) vs a LHP w/a runner in the earlier frame. I was thinking Esco to lead off vs. the sidearming righty.
  21. Marte has long since been dropped to sixth in the lineup in my head.
  22. A little surprised to see Nido stay in the game leading off the bottom of the eighth. Less surprised to see him whiff, sadly.
  23. That's some fortunate pinch-running.
