  1. We have an entry for future Magazine Cover Derby action!
  2. He's 17, and that means I'll likely be dead before he makes it to the majors, if he makes it to the majors, and he's a catcher, so that means he'll have to find a way to insert himself into a role that is more likely to be dominated by Francisco Álvarez and Kevin Pareda. But I've developed a rooting interest in Julio, because all great Mets are named Julio, and in his first eight games with the DSL OrangeMets (as opposed to the BlueMets), he's gone .462 / .500 / .962 // 1.462 in 29 plate appearances. Of his 12 hits, four have been doubles and three have been homers. In other words, that ".962" isn't an OPS. It's a slugging percentage. That's the way you do it! And yeah, it's a small sample size. But you know what else is small? YOUR FACE!

  5. That's one more pitching appearance than his second cousin, twice removed.
  6. A hunnert and twenty-one minutes.
  7. The Cardinals as the sad sack of the league just doesn't compute.
  8. "You'd think that a guy named 'Genesis' would pitch at the start of games." That crack didn't land well when I made it two seasons ago, Gar.
  9. Only ninety pitches for Megill. I see the argument for getting him out on a positive, and after a relatively high-intensity inning, but ... I don't fancy that argument.
  10. It's weird to see Lindor with his hair so short. Nice cut, though.
  11. Vogelbach's homer went kind of far, too.
  12. Lefty Specialist wrote: No confidence in Meh-gill whatsoever. I'm feeling like he'll go at least six, hitting his spots, getting his curve over behind the count, and mostly keeping the ball in the infield. He'll probably leave a ball hanging for a solo homer, but that's it.
  13. Did they give a distance on Contreras' homer? That ball went to Agee Territory.
  14. Let's run this guy. Let's see some Matz tonight.
  15. Yeah, I dunno what's happening with my typing brain.
  16. That bottom of the second went about as fast as any inning ever that I can ever recall ever.
  17. =ashie62 post_id=128977 time=1686957786 user_id=90] Lindor totally kills the rally 123 double play
  18. Mikolas is grabbing at his hammy.
  19. =kcmets post_id=128937 time=1686916193 user_id=53] My least favorite as well. Hopefully, twelve days from now we'll be so Dark Sided out that we're gonna need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles! We'll be whistling ‘Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of our assholes!
  20. Better than letting him ad-lib.
  21. You guys missed a weird game. I know it's tough to watch when the team has been subverting itself, but there were some bold performances too. Nimmo ends up being the hero after nearly blowing two games in a row. Plus, the Mets somehow out-bullpenned the Yankees, if only just. The pulled off only their third intentional walk of the year, and got away with it, even though they sort of had to talk themselves into it. Also no homeruns, after three homers the night before.
  22. Hearing Brandon say "Gosh-dang!" with a cowboy scratchiness is hilarious.
