I'm pickin' a lot o' loozas.

There's a lot of editorializing that's hard to confirm concretely, but I guess number three could be Rich Becker.

Ex-Met catcher, bullpen coach, and first base coach Sandy Alomar, Jr. has been retained for the Guardians' staff under new manager Stephen Vogt, one of only two holdovers from Terry Francona's braintrust.

Did whoisonit really try to rhyme "city" and "misery"? "Hebner" and "better"?

When it comes to big/small couplings, the Waterstreet/Cohens are almost in Betances territory. [fimg=450]https://d2qm30jidfbm96.cloudfront.net/uploads/bfa/40688/5732996/large_40688_5732996.jpg[/fimg] https://media.gettyimages.com/id/496083382/photo/5th-annual-cc-challenge-kick-off-reception-rules-party.jpg?s=594x594&w=gi&k=20&c=9BI0xLRJluhlQosITa-0kF5WgnXx7Uf75NFQrwIXLtU=>

Any plans you might have had to marry into an ownership stake in the Mets took a blow over Thanksgiving weekend, as Sophia Cohen, daughter of Steve and Alex, became engaged to Harrison Waterstreet, an agent with Creative Artists Agency. CAA, coincidentally enough, is the agency that gave the Mets Brodie Van Wagenen. All hope is not lost, as Ms. Cohen has been engaged before and broken it off. All mercenary romancers still have a window to work with, but that window is closing.

Yeah, you really don't want to confuse transacting and acting. I absolutely believe that there's plenty going on, and there are always valuable moves available.

Number one above is the is the acclaimed Jason Roach, who started his career as a third-baseman and hit pretty well, but switched to pitching believing it was a quicker route to the big leagues, while shortsighted brass should've let him do both.

You know about your President of Baseball Ops, but now Steve Cohen has https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/steve-cohen-hires-bloomberg-media-153843295.htmlhired himself a President of Business Ops. That character, should anybody ask, is current current Bloomberg Media CEO M. Scott Havens. And while president is a heftier title than CEO, I tend to think Bloomberg Media is a bigger, more substantial, and more powerful operation than the Mets, so good on Cohen, I guess. Our guy is allegedly in charge of all operations which aren't baseball, so we'll see where the line is drawn going forward, and who gets to decide the next change in outfield dimensions. M. had previously served as digital chief at Time, Inc., where he had https://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/jun/29/time-inc-scott-havens-digital-linkedindeclared their Muskian goal to "build the next LinkedIn or Facebook." We're still waiting on that, but it was during his time at Time that he really advanced his raised-eyebrow game seen below, so good work there. The Mets could be hammering out an all-Nippon rotation.

Doesn't strike out prodigious number as when he was younger but he throws a lot of innings, stays healthy, and keeps the ball down. Started his career as a thirdbaseman. His fastball is good enough to make his change his most effective pitch. He can expect to start the season near the top of the Syracuse bullpen, and his signing pushed Deniel Núñez back toward the Binghamton picture.

Kenta Maeda, time to let loose a growl, because you're a Detroit Tiger! https://media1.giphy.com/media/EMLbYiOpTRuSKtYuTZ/giphy.gif?cid=ecf05e47unkntzbf5xtny564l8szv9zdbn0jarj5fdxwzhd9&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g>

Reach 5%? Golly gee, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Danny Barnes, it has been reporting will indeed be returning to the staff this season. His official public-facing title through most of the season was merely "assistant coach" or "MLB assistant coach" as if that says anything, but late in the year, he would occasionally be described as "data coach," if and when he was described at all. And why not? That data can't coach itself, but we guess he was a filter between the eggheads in the front office and the coaching staff. There's almost no actual scenario where he is moved to the bullpen by opening day, but if a game was to break out tonight, somebody has to be out there, and since his portfolio is so ambiguous, we're throwing the job to him. Or maybe that should have been Glenn Sherlock. We don't know, but it's good to see Danny back. We still need to confirm the status of other peripheral staffers like Rafael Fernandez and Aaron Myers, but it seems, as too often seems to be the case, it's the whale that rises that gets the harpoon. Dave Racianiello may be the bullpen catcher forever, but if he ever accepts a promotion to bullpen coach, he'll be gone in two seasons. Richardson's coming from San Francisco, but the highlight of his brief MLB career seems to be scoring the winning run when Derek Jeter hit a walkoff single in his last trip to the plate. He does, however, put the lie to the notion that first base coach is the designated role for the African-American staff. Sometimes, a team hires an Afro-Carribean for that spot So there's that. These guys, it seems, have some work to do to earn their Mets stripes. We won't do a whole roster dump post here, but the current picture of the non-playing dugout personnel looks something like this. Number four in your quiz is number 49 on your scorecard and number on in your hearts, Armanado Benitez.

The most recent number five certainly looks like Jeff McKnight, but McKnight also played for the Mets in 1989, and the poem about number five seems to refer to a pitcher. I think I'm not following when a number is being reused for a new guy.

Thanks for that, and thanks for reviving your CPF Parody Challenge entry and giving the forum a shoutout. My eyes courteously request that Faith and Fear increase their font size, or perhaps their line spacing, but I guess that's what my browser controls are for.

That's great. Enjoy.

I'm not sure that ballot's going to help him win the J.G. Taylor Spink Award.

Dear Gray, Sorry we gave you a mesh cap. Sincerely, Mets Management

That's a terrible shame. He interviewed at Citi Field this Summer, and looked pretty healthy. The "short illness" to me suggests a bout of Covid, but I can only guess. Author of the most consequential regular-season trip to the plate in team history, and tri-author of the of what is probably the most consequential defensive play. Roomed with Gil Hodges Jr. in the minors under the Bob Miller rule. His wife Peggy was the star of the Mets Wives softball team.

Fair enough. I'm not sure it's the most nuanced way to measure the question, but it is certainly meaningful.

Hey, while you were doing whatever it is you do, David Stoins was busy bringing in his first two players to the organization! JY is already on his third organization despite only having pitched 20 innings, and pitched them more than decently, so I'm suspecting the dreaded Bad Attitude Disease has been at him.
