    I can't possibly think of a reason that Stearns will underspend the money that the team's ownership would allow for him. Tonkin gave up zero runs in 7 2/3 innings this spring. Every team has a reliever making similar money to Michael Tonkin. Most have more than one.

    Why would anyone send money to pay for the former president's legal costs? We are a very brand-loyal culture, it seems.

    I'm not part of the culture in favor of the clock, but I'm not sure the causalities Strider described can be supported by study. If he really believes it, he should encourage his union to do their own research.

    Nimmo and McNeil are suddenly in the triple digits with their batting averages, and Marte is getting on with some regularity. We just need to get some of that vitality into Lindor.

    Strider looking like he's suffered his second UCL blowout. Not what you want to root for, but it's certainly not shocking, considering the violence of his delivery. It's hard to figure out an injury that can have a bigger impact on the division. There are more valuable players, like Acuña and Harper, but neither of them are likely to sustain an injury that takes them off the field for 14 months.
