  1. The Yankees just don't seem this good on paper, but the record is the record. And the record is also on paper, so ... .
  2. There's also nobody on that list that is really analagous to him in terms of profile. He's a little bit Mookie, a little bit Mazzilli, and a little bit Wayne Garrett.
  3. Mets undefeated in the CPF [MetsOrange]Orange[/MetsOrange][MetsBlue]Blue[/MetsBlue] Era!
  4. What the hell happened to Tim Anderson? He was one of the faces of MLB a few years back He's played better than I expected the last two days. He had an utterly awful season last year with the White Sox. Halfway through the year, he got in an ugly fight. The way I remember it, it didn't initially seem like he was the instigator, but players across the league came out and publicly said they just assumed he had it coming to him — that he's the biggest punk in the league. I didn't remember him as such. He seemed more or less affable. But I've watched him closely since then, and yeah, he does seam to carry himself like a jerk, even as he's seemingly playing his way out of the league. Here we go. Anderson seems to have much better form, lands a couple early, but Ramirez holds his feet and brings home the haymaker. [media=youtube]7oacyt6Jk8U[/media] Cleveland announcer Tom Hamilton, sounding a little drunk, seems to be delighted to get to call a boxing match and acquits himself like he's had experience in that department. Cameo by Noah "You Can Meet Me at the Mound" Syndergaard around 2:40. If you don't need to see the whole match, here's the money round: [media=youtube]je3EgH0txVM[/media]
  5. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Dedniel Nuñez. https://media0.giphy.com/media/qrfzvc01Hoj2thorCs/200w.gif?cid=6c09b952vkmsgpwha9si5k13jbo1t81usfmp1ibo2sejpft9&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=200w.gif&ct=g>
  6. =Fman99 post_id=158982 time=1718241691 user_id=86] Mark Vientos is the hero America needs
  7. I'm digging Jazz Chisholm in center.
  8. Seems like the Mets have hit several sinking liners to the rightfielder.
  9. That inning was a pleasure to watch Dedniel pitch.

  11. Baseball is hard. Marte and Bader tonight knocking the ball well past the original dimensions of Citi Field.
  12. Suddenly a one-run game as Peterson is struggling to get the last out of the fifth.
  13. [MetsOrange]Two hands,[/MetsOrange] [MetsBlue]Francisco.[/MetsBlue]
  14. Really, really good to see Pete back in the cleaning-up hole.
  15. That's the attitude. Early data suggests that this should raise their odds of winning tonight up by 70%.
  16. I assume Jay Horwitz has staff and part of their role is to keep tabs on the 800 or so surviving Mets. Obviously, there are public announcements made when somebody passes, so sarcastic jibes about the dead informing people are un-necessary.
  17. That's great!! Welcome back, Met Hunter!! It's wrong that these passings should slip through the cracks. It seems that, if there's anything an alumni office should be doing, it's to keep track of how these guys are doing, write a press release when they are in danger or pass, and send a generous allotment of flowers to the funeral.
  18. Management is pleased to inform you that a new feature has been added to your posting window! https://metsrostercentral.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/posting-banner.png> In the list of buttons above your posting window (which I've copied a screen shot of above this paragraph) are two new additions labeled "MetsBlue" and "Mets Orange." As you might guess, if you highlight a word or series of words in your post, and simply click one of these buttons, code will appear around the word or phrase to make it render handsomely in the official hexadecimal colors of the world-famous New York Mets! [MetsBlue]Blue![/MetsBlue] [MetsOrange]Orange![/MetsOrange] Combine either of those buttons with a click of the B (bold) button (the first button to the top left of your posting window), and your text will stand out even more! [MetsBlue]Blue![/MetsBlue] [MetsOrange]Orange![/MetsOrange] Forum management wants all posters to know that we are always looking out for you, and thinking up new ways to add value to your posting experience. Enjoy this new game-changer of a feature!!

  20. The Met-Lovin' big shots don't seem that big anymore as I age theme has escaped the "Met-Lovin' Big Shots" threads and landed here in a "Mets in the Popular Culture" thread, home of the ever-popular popular culture doesn't seem that popular anymore as I age theme.
  21. Let's go, Mets!
  22. =DocTee post_id=158854 time=1718154671 user_id=85] I remember someone from the mid-80s--Pat Tabler? Tom Paciorek?---who had a ridiculous (like .450) BA with the bases juiced. Not sure how many HRs though
  23. A really soggy second half of the game for the Mets. No noise at all.
  24. The Chisholm trail was never the most direct of routes.
