1. Lefty Specialist wrote: If you bump McNeil out to RF, you put Iglesias at second. You don't bench him in favor of Baty. And if you don't play Baty, what's the point? Well, there are different lineups on different days, with plenty of opportunities to go around.
2. Syracuse scratched out a 4-3 victory last night, on the strength of a three-run homer by Mr. Baty.
3. It was a Braves win last night, allowing the Mets not only to pull a full game ahead of the Padres, who are now tied with Arizona, a game out of the money, but to also pull into a dead heat with the Cardinals for the second wild card spot. The Pads meet Atlanta again today, in a late afternoon start on the West Coast, that'll be 7:15 in the evening for us in the East. Dylan Cease faces 2024 All-Star Reynaldo Lopez, and again, the Mets kinda win no matter what the outcome, so root for extra innings. But root!
4. Pretty easy one today, but good job with Oscar Charleston. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 468 9/9: Rarity: 22 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.comhttps://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref

[TH][FIMG=50]https://statsplus.net/bbref/bbref-logo.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH].300+ AVG Season Batting[/TH][TH]30+ HR Season Batting[/TH][TH]Played Second Base min. 1 game[/TH]

[TH]100+ Run Season Batting[/TH]Babe Ruth 1%Ted Williams 0.8%Rogers Hornsby 2%

[TH]100+ RBI Season Batting[/TH]Joe Torre 0.1%Brady Anderson 1%Ryne Sandberg 9%

[TH]30+ SB Season[/TH]Willie Mays 2%Howard Johnson 5%Alan Wiggins 0.8%

I feel bad that I missed an opportunity with my 100-RBI secondbaseman. I'm surprised that Sandberg was as high as 9% considering he peaked at exactly 100. I should have went with Fonzie.
5. The Rocks are sending Ryan Feltner to the mound. Ryan is a 27-year-old righthander who likely wishes he was employed by another organization, sporting a 1–8 record this season and a 7–22 mark over his career. He's a fastball/slider power pitcher who doesn't really have great — or even particularly good — marks in any one department, but he mostly keeps the ball in the park for a Rockies pitcher. He took a liner off the noggin last year. He continues to get high praise for "stuff" but the outcomes ain't showing it.
6. Was something atmospheric happening in New York yesterday? From my eyeball perspective, pitches just weren't breaking, and the balls that left the yard left by a lot. Did the Rockies bring the atmosphere with them?
7. More importantly, in a game that's going to help the Mets one way or another, the Padres and Braves are scoreless in the bottom of the fourth at Petco. If the Braves win, the Mets get a game of breathing room between them and the Padres, .001 behind them but virtually tied for the third wild card spot. If the Padres win, the Mets gain a game on the team currently holding the top wild card spot, four games ahead at the start of the evening.
8. Just wait 'til after the break. Reinforcements galore a-comin'.
9. No guesses. I unnerstand. Folks too busy watchin' the fireworks.
10. Two-run homers > Solo Shots. That's just basic math. The Mets' most homers in a game came against the Phillies on August 24, 2015, with 8 home runs. Name those eight sluggers. One Met per post.
11. Nope. Those doubles are just az sweet.
12. The problem is that everyone's going to be swinging for the fences as long as this guy is in the game.
13. McNeil missed the memo. He must really feel like a stooge this inning.
14. Mark, Mark His uni's dark He hits the ball It leaves the park José, José Makes fan say YAY! Takes a swing And makes it pay Harry, Harry Bearded, scary Makes upper-decker Fans grow wary
15. Gosh, Toglia can golf.
16. I feel like it's surprising that Alonso has numbers as good as he does. It feels like he's been grinding most of the season and he looks pretty lost right now.
17. Whatever the criteria, and whatever your standards are, https://www.billboard.com/music/latin/new-york-mets-jose-iglesias-candelita-first-no-1-billboard-chart-omg-1235728331/José has become the first Met with a #1 record, and that's gonna be something that's hard to equal.

More interestingly, Fujinami has thrown four rehab innings at three levels, giving up no runs on no hits and no walks, while striking out six. So, you know, hubba-hubba.
19. Well, I'm pretty certain you coined it, so hey, feel free to change the criteria as you see fit. It's your horse.
20. Yeah, my main memory is that he (1) he's a Brooklyn Yankee lover, which is always horribly suspect; and (2) he's one of a string of guys in 2024 that arrived and immediately and counterproductively got thrown in the deep end of the pool, sacrificing a perfectly winnable game at the altar of load management.

We hope make it up to you by keeping a sharper eye out for the coming fate of Joey Lucchesi.
22. Apparently there are somehow more important things in life than getting another chance to lower a 36.00 Mets ERA, and so Matt Festa has signed a minor-league deal to be a Texas Ranger. 23. And yes, I realize that we routinely misuse the terms "percentage" and "percentage point," and they really pulled in front by single permillage point or something.
24. I prefer to think of it as La Era OMG!
25. Gosh, that raises as many questions as it answers.
