  1. The Braves had trouble bagging their fist hit themselves last night, not dropping one in until there were two out in the sixth. It's interesting to think that maybe they were following the Mets game and got demoralized by the turn of fortune.
  2. Noah Syndergaard is working toward a 2025 return to the field.
  3. Fangraphs has him ahead of Ohtani in fWAR, 7.4 to 7.0.
  4. If I'm going regular season, flipping the last game of 2008 would certainly have an appeal.
  5. As noted above by batmagadanleadoff is that the Mets are using their two remaining days off (the first of which is today) to juggle the rotation in order to get their three hot hands starting in the Atlanta series. Probably more consequential is the Braves losing All-Star starting pitcher Reynaldo López for the remainder of the season. He hadn't been slotted to go against the Mets, but they've called up Cuban emigree Daysbel Hernández to take his rotation turns. Hernández has been effective as a reliever in a few callups this year. 6. Just please read before you ask a question that's answered in the first sentence. There's certainly a point in that.
  7. That's some stinky news right there.
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: The good news for Paul Skenes is that last night he became the fourth to strike out over 150 in his rookie season. The bad news is that the first three wound up with rather short primes in their careers: Kerry Wood, Dwight Gooden, Mark Prior I'm missing something here. What about Herb Score, Pete Alexander, ... Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and Jon Matlack? What about the likes of them?
  9. Phillies hang on against the Marlins, 3-2. Man, do the Mets look like they could do with their day of rest.
  10. The Diamondbacks have clobbered the Rangers, 14-4, in Phoenix. The Braves trail the Nationals, 2-0, in the top of the fourth in a very special game in Washington, DC. The Phillies lead the Rays, 2-1, in the bottom of the third in Philadelphia. The Padres start late against the Mariners in Seattle.
  11. I'm confused why you're shitting in this thread and you don't address me directly. Weird.
  12. =Cowtipper post_id=169717 time=1726090270 user_id=166] Good blast by Alvarez. Martinez averages, 2018-2023: 27 home runs, 88 RBI, 77 runs. Including the very short 2020. This year: 16 home runs, 69 RBI, 43 runs, not even 100 hits. Martinez is a waste of money. Could have spent that money more wisely. Like better relief pitchers, so we wouldn't be in the barely-scratching-our-way-there mess we're in right now.
  13. "Hello, my name is 'Genesis'." "Well, you had better name that pitch you just threw 'Exodus'."
  14. =Cowtipper post_id=169704 time=1726089824 user_id=166] Martinez has underwhelmed all year.
  15. We have a good chance to outhit this team.
  16. [bIGPURPLE]HOLY CRAP!!~!!![/bIGPURPLE]
  17. You only get one mistake, Bowden Francis.
  18. And Álvarez on the second pitch.
  19. Grounding out on the first pitch totally wasn't the plan.
  20. Bunt your way on, Marte. These guys will probably muff it and you'll end up on second.
  21. Hitting balls hard also no help, as the balls have been pre-treated with a glove-seeking device.
  22. The offense could certainly use a wakeup call.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Frayed Knot wrote: Well, we're going to have to start hitting at some point so why not now? Yes, they're likely going to have to bop their way back into this game. I get the notion that passed balls aren't going to cut it tonight. On the other hand ... .
  24. Who wants some Pop?
  25. Hey, an extra-base hit! Good things happen when I watch the presidential debate. Just not, you know, at the debate.
