Gary and Howie are on different sides of the Nats question. Gary was insisting earlier in the week that the Nats had vastly reloaded as the season has progressed, and their record is not particularly reflective of how good they are. Howie describes them as "frankly bad" and suggests that they're kind of going through the motions as they play out the string.

I believe in the IGT, and I'm sorry it gets less use. I assume folks have family members to watch with or they're posting at Twitter or the like, but the attrition in IGT participation leaves me feeling old. IGT's also are better when folks provide not the play-by-play, but the analysis. Few of us need to read a comment that Shlabotnik is up with two on and one out. That's an interesting observation. I don't think, however, if the Mets do qualify for the post-season, any game the Mets play before then is likely to be "meaningless." If they clinch the third Wild Card Slot, they still have motivation to chase the second. If they clinch the second, ... yadda yadda yadda. Of course, they could clinch and then give up on the chase for a higher spot, lest they spend all their bullets before the post-season starts.
