Of course, but the obvious example gets the hashtag. What eats me is they typically aren't positioned back by the wall. It's the plays at the wall — catches on the warning track with the outfielder facing away from home, and fair/foul calls at the pole, that the base umpires can't really see. Tyrone Taylor is earning his pay on defense.

4. One of the strangest things about the post-season is that they add these two umps in left and right with a very small mandate, lots of room with which they work, but they still blow calls.
5. You can't spell Alonso without turning Nola around.
6. I played the piano on your asses.
7. New York, not so long ago, had laws prohibiting charging more than 10% above face value for resold tickets. I imagine the laws became largely unenforceable in the Internet age, but I'm not sure where the notion of scalping being an unseemly and exploitative practice went. I guess I can put it beside commercials for hard alcohol, advertising on uniforms, and gambling in the box of things MLB would seemingly never allow themselves to be associated with, that they now embrace wholeheartedly.
8. If you put all those RELIEVER OF THE MONTH cards into a pile, and you flip through them, it makes a movie. I don't know where I dropped the ball on my perfect voting record, but my shame runs deep.
9. I'm crazy about them all. All action cardz too!
10. First trip to the plate: Brett Baty, who has hair that suggests hockey more than baseball. Also, his dad is so stiff and straight, he's like a Will Ferrell character. The Jake Monster. Kazzy:
11. Wow! Jon Berti's a Yankee!
12. Steve Henderson Game, 6/14/80. What's amazing is the festival of powerlessness that greets him at the plate. Alex Treviño, Doug Flynn, late-stage José Cardenál who is just passing through. Henderson and Stearns looked like they were going to be putting up some home run numbers three years earlier, but by mid-June 1980, gravity had done a number on the both of them and the entire Torre era. The sluggingest guy in the scrum at home plate is Claudell Washington, who inexplicably still doesn't have a name on his jersey a week after he's been acquired. The moment is so rare that ushers or ground crew staff are clapping outside the dugout as he enters the clubhouse. Right about that time, the Mets were drafting Darryl Strawberry.
13. Kingman goes deep twice, 9/10/1975. The Mets still lost, 8-4. Nelson and Kiner had the first call, Murphy had the second.
14. These are big, not so much because of their momentousness, but in the sense that they contain some of the most area within the arc of the ball's travel. Not great captures of what went down at all, but a video record of any sort gives you an idea. Fran Healy with the play-by-play in both clips. Darryl Strawberry makes Tim McCarver question his sense of what is possible, 4/29/86, Fulton County Stadium. Darryl hits the roof of the Big O, 4/4/88. 15. Yeah, those positions might be better off swapped. I'd like to see Franco (or Hernandez for that matter) with a lefthanded catcher's glove, though.
16. I can think of a few ways to monetize it. The more I think of it, I suspect most grumbling will be minimal. The Sox won a title in the interim, and the Yankees have won five. Some older Reds fans may want to re-litigate their team's exclusion from the 1981 post-season, but how animated can folks really get over a vacant 30-year-old title? You haven't been the champions all these years, and now you still aren't. Do you really want to deny a well earned honor to a fan base that has never won, and has been screwed six ways to Sunday ever since, with their team dismantled annually and ultimately abandoned by their ownership. When the team was moved, the fans were accused of deserting the team, as if they weren't deserted first. It not only would be the first title for the Expos, it would be the first title for the French-speaking world, and in awarding the title to Montreal, it would be a great time to announce that MLB ball is returning to the city. That's some fun upside.
17. If I hadn't already been a Spinners fan, that clip alone would have done it.
18. If the Yankees complain, that's a plus to me. The All-Star proposal is a thought too. I suppose it could create a bad precedent for future work stoppages. Teams who are leading at the point of a stoppage might presumptively declare themselves champions. if a championship-free team like the Mariners were in first place, their fans might start openly rooting for the strike to continue and end the season.
19. What would be the downside if, 30 years later, MLB decided to declare Montreal the 1994 MLB champion?
20. But thank you for acknowledging that you have some idea of what I'm referring to.
21. I'm not entertaining a delusional fantasy. I don't know why you would write this when you're proposing $50 pizza slices.
22. It sure otherwise reads like you have an idea of my point. Yes, there certainly would be market effects lowering prices if MLB didn't have a tight control on the number of teams, and territorial exclusivity. If your restaurant was one of only two permitted to sell pizza in New York City, you might well be able to charge $50 a slice.
