  1. Nothing this morning. Not even a hot enough rumor to trigger denials. I suck.
  2. Rocket's been a tweeting fool of late.
  3. Well, midnight approaches. I'm calling bullshit on this one until at least the 26th.
  4. Christmets at the Turners.
  5. Yeah, and on Christmas Eve? Who is he? Sandineezer Scrooge?
  6. I have no idea whether the ThePhilliePhans is a reliable source or a bunch of tools but.. @ThePhillyPhans The Philly Phans According to a source (this is our story, no actual report) "David Wright may be the 3rd baseman very very shortly."
  7. In general, for team X, the Beltran deal. Personally, for my team, Reyes. I guess.
  8. Let's go for Tuesday.
  9. Soup, it's me and you. How do you want to proceed?
  10. Mets Willets Point wrote: Is this like La Cosa Nostra and I can't leave unless I'm rubbed out first? It's exactly exactly that. Get crackin'.
  11. I'm not sure I agree that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
  12. Yup. Don't know why. That's the reasonable scratch he should have been making all along but something about his francophonic name makes him that guy people always overpay for. Everybody thinks he's the last piece of their puzzle or something.
  13. Peacock good. This I know. (Checking the numbers... well, he was damn good last year anyhow.)
  14. NRIs happen every year --- particularly catchers. Every year, they're construed as a representative move of a misguided franchise.
  15. Johnson appears to be the sort of Sandy special kind of signing. His noodle-bat stats at the big league level reveal perhaps chronic injuries rather than inability, as he's hit in the minors. And maybe they're rolling the dice and hoping that he's put that behind him. Else, welcome Dusty Ryan II.
  16. Instead we get minor league contractee Rob Johnson. Punchless, but a favorite of Don Wakamatsu, who claimed he handed the Mariner staff better than Kenji Johjima. On the other hand, Wakamatsu had the 2010 Mariners at 42-70 when he was axed.

  18. The "Bill? I Never Would Have Guessed!" columns start rolling out. When you indulge assholes, you entitle them, and make them think they're untouchable.
  19. I know. You can slice that so many ways. I have 30 years of artful molestations involving children in somebody else's poor care that I covered up on my own, thank you very much.
  20. Is the hire done under the Mets' initiative or more like FAN's with the Mets having some degree of veto power?
  21. Got some time? Read Rob Neyer liveblogging For the Love of the Game. Sad part is his liveblog is almost as long as the movie and he gets in about half of what's wrong with it.
  22. That's 20 years worth of Mets there.
  23. Gosh, bgolly. I was worried he was gonna kill himself (and I hope he still doesn't), and instead he's looking to open up and let fly. How strange that he's looking to the nu media world to save him.
  24. Well, they come with a guaranteed return. That's something.
  25. It's also worth pointing out that their families seem to generally back their stories. One of the victims claims to have gotten a 10-page letter of apology, which I imagine would be a bomb if she could produce it. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Creep, rival papers but they share the same web space? The Daily News has a full front page pic of the creep. http://phillydailynews.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx The two papers haven't been "rivals" in years. They're owned by the same company, have the same headquarters, and use the same printing presses and same delivery trucks. The only thing separate (that I'm aware of) is the editorial staff. My bad, but I've understood from my Philly friends that reader loyalties divide them. I guess that's a dated perspective.
