  1. This whole Don't chase the win ethos can really stick in my craw.
  2. The Yanks got a righty in now, and I would be falling over myself to get lefties into the lineup. I probably would have given that Marte at-bat to Baty.
  3. Got a four-game win streak over the Yankees on the line here.
  4. Good time for Nimmo to steal home.
  5. Yankees with #90 playing second.
  6. Gotta make a Yankee swing the bat, man.
  7. Yankees rallying big without any hard contact here.
  8. Megill really seemed to find his form that inning.
  9. The Yankees suddenly have so few brand-identified players that they are having a Yogi Berra Bobblehead Night.
  10. The font on these road unis needs to fixed. And then they need to fix the font on the back of the Seaver statue.
  11. I couldn't find the photo, but that was the day the sign guy — that, at the time, was trying to position himself as the New Karl Ehrhardt — infamously held up a sign trying to taunt Hampton by calling him a "LOOSER," which ended up being an own-goal against all of us. Vilifying can feel righteous, but it doesn't exactly help the culture put its best foot forward.
  12. Correction: In an earlier post, I made reference to a meeting between Rose and then-baseball commissioner Pete Selig brokered by Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench. It was actually Joe Morgan and Mike Schmidt behind the overture. I regret the error.
  13. For what it is worth, Alonso is not particularly analogous to Soto. Soto spent one year with the Yankees, and really, he probably gave them the best year of his career.
  14. That makes for good MbtN content. What digits do MLBS's and other celebs wear for their personal visits to Shea? Like 50 Cent wearing 50 for his infamous first pitch. I remember an old yearbook photo of Good Morning America host David Hartman visiting with Joe Torre in his office and wearing 7 to represent ABC's Channel 7 New York affiliate.
  15. Well, that is why I advocate taking a pitch when the tying run is behind you in the ninth. Deep drives are just deep drives until you get enough guys on base.
  16. Let us re-write the story of this game starting now.
  17. Nothing wrong with raccoons*. Just don't fuck with them and you should be good. On the other hand, it may trigger a fight between McNeil and Lindor. * Of course, there is the rabies risk, but whatev.
  18. Two outs and down four, and Alonso probably shouldn't have been running. That said, I'm not sure he was out. That said, I'm not sure that is the way to be sliding.
  19. Baseball is always good. And I think Azocar's night has more or less fine for the last guy off the bench batting ninth.
  20. That lost opportunity now seeming more critical.
  21. They stick with Azocar and he goes down on pitch #1. Flurf.
  22. I realize this is Soto's night off and you don't want him playing on wet turf, but do you pinch-hit here with one of your three bench lefties?
