  1. I didn't realize you had that power.
  2. I don't see how that answers the question.
  3. The Mets have had a few chances to go back to Bobby and passed. I would love to see a Valentine/Bay swap, but we'd have to throw in a few bridges.
  4. Do people actually laugh out loud when they type "lol"?
  5. I hear ya. I'm not banging the drums here, believe me. Just noting that I hear them in the distance.
  6. Ashie's calling for his head --- and while Terry Collins looked very much like a place holder from the start, it's looking more every day like his place is growing unstable. So I offer this thread, for opinions about Collins' employment, journalism to that effect, and speculation about his replacement. If it went down today, it would be like Backman 3-2 Geren 3-1 Teufel 9-1 Everybody Else 3-1 I kinda lost any hope for the guy's future that game in Miami that led to this post from Gwreck. I don't know if his moves and non-moves that evening demoralized his team, but it sure seemed so when they came out and lost by double digits the next day. He's looking more and more like the dead man walking that Howe and Manuel were the last two months of their tenures. I sure ain't rooting against good Terry, but if they do see a future with Backman, it may behoove them to cut to him for the end of this season (like they did with Valentine) instead of wasting a chunk of the offseason on a farcical manager search. It can perhaps send Wright a message of renewed organizational energy entering any potential offseason contract talks.
  7. Which is measured how?
  8. Yeah, Howie talking about Thole having his hands full tonight as he gets his second passed ball. He's specuating now about Shoppach's experience.
  9. There's always Japan. And the Yankees.
  10. Every player ever will make the same sounds. Wright can be accommodated or he can't. The difference will not be his assessment of whether or not Nimmo has the goods.
  11. How about Valdy playing that carom perfectly but the throw coming in a half hour late? Dickey not have it tonight or what?
  12. The mountains the Yankees are going to move to get his perfect ass in pinstripes.
  13. Read enough Megdal, I'd be concerned about the future of a lot more than the Mets.
  14. And now, the era that will be henceforth known as The Era begins. Don't know how Johnson can just be demoted, without first being DFA'd, because he's been up and down since 2007, but that's how it's being reported. I guess it has something to do with clearing waivers earlier. 15. My brother-in-law just this morning posted this shot of his Giant-lovin' Cabrera-cravin' son at the ballyard posing with these goofballs. That kid's school lunch is being washed down with the sour milk of disillusionment right about now.
  16. Ooh! Ooh! I do!
  17. Holy crap! That thread has Rotblatt's now-classic explication of the WHOMP statistic. Great job, archivists!
  18. Unfortunately, the "Welcome Jose Lima" thread became merged with the "Welcome to Ms. Lima" sentiments by the second post, thanks to, um, me.
  19. You just hurt Mike Marshall's feelings!
  20. Bobby Valentine mentioned that Kelly Shoppach asked for more PT. Bobby Valentine mentioned that Clay Buchholz asked to be pushed back a day, while noting that he had no problem with that and felt Buchholz was entitled to such a day. Bobby Valentine was asked why he lifted Carl Crawford and mentioned that he had a minor injury that the press shouldn't make too much of. Can I get a big whoop? Is this all you got? This all smacks of "See, I told you he was trouble." Terry Collins probably makes as many "gaffes" in a single pre-game interview, only they don't get recorded as gaffes, because they really aren't to any meaningful extent, and folks aren't trying to build such a case against Collins.
  21. Games: 114 Stolen Bases: 139 Caught Stealings: 32 Yesterday: 0-1 --- his fifth straight game with a caught stealing, a period during which he has nonetheless stolen eight bases successfully. His success rate appears to be flagging, if not his desire. Yesterday breaks a streak of at eight straight games with at least one steal.
  22. Second time of late that I've missmonthed a thread title. On the other hand, cooby in the Baseball Forum. Yay!!
  23. Gary Carter and the F-Bomb
  24. So what does it say on Latos' forearm? Is that scripture?
