  1. See, two-run single there. They could have pinch-run Turner for Murphy or Satin, but they just don't care about re-familiarizing him with the plate.
  2. That's nine runs. None scored by Turner.
  3. Eric Young wasn't born. He was created in a government lab at the Ministry of Hustle.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Doodoo wants to playplay. Doodoo step over Ikeike. Doodoo get to playplay, but Doodoo sad.
  5. Greg digs it. JM&tHA also joined the Jim Carroll Band as performers in Tuff Turf.
  6. The Nats destroyed the Mets' hopes and now the Mets are destroying the Nats' hopes. And eye for an eye is sad!
  7. Doodoo wants to playplay.
  8. I imagine Lagares got moved for a reason. Those gruesome fielding percentages (.942, .911, .938 his first three seasons) I'm looking at right now might have something to do with that. Sorta stuff that would embarrass Valdespin. (I'm kidding. Nothing embarrasses Valdespin.)
  9. I'm not really lobbying for Dykstra to get a McCallup, so much as I am disappointed that these other two guys are ahead of him on line, but I guess the team wants piles of pitching, and I understand why they would have greater utility in that regard.
  10. I'm familiar with their stati. And yes, I know that a guy has to be on the 40-man roster to be in the big leagues.
  11. That bmfc-starring reality show clip is cash money. Go, bmfc!
  12. Vic Black and the Heart Attack expected to join the Mets Sunday as rosters expand. The roster is expected to otherwise remain unexpanded for the time being while Binghamton and Vegas (who haven't quite clinched) head to the playoffs. Florida State League PotY Dustin Lawley takes Matt den Dekker's slot with Vegas. Adam Rubin lists Binghamtonians Jeff Walters and Darin Gorski as fringe promotion candidates. As a supporter of Allan Dykstra, this is more than somewhat unsettling, and I will not sleep well tonight.
  13. Columnists have beaten the "Mets Must Spend NOW!!!!" drum every season since like 1990. There's a company line.
  14. It's both a little early (it's been three games) and a little late (the regular season is over like tomorrow) to cry out that somebody's rotting.
  15. Tejada's hitting .295 / .347 / .379 // .725. Humor me and call the guy up.
  16. My dad just threw my brothers and me in the ocean to teach me to swim. He also never gave shit if I buckled my seatbelt. Secondhand smoke? He sucked long drags and then exhaled as he kissed us goodnight. Look at me. I'm fine. Really, you want to argue that pitchers are better off today or pitchers were better off in the sixties, I'm all ears. But bring some data, because "It worked for me!" isn't too convincing.
  17. Oh the drama. "We're close" is the "company line" for pretty much every team in the league.
  18. In my mind, he was still active, fourteen years after his retirement.
  19. Dilson goes 2-3 with a hit-by-pitch, two runs, and the go-ahead RBI in his debut with Savannah. That's half as many runs as Justin Turner.
  20. Alex Pantsload gets battered for eight runs as the Lucies (69-60) are eliminated from post-season contention.
  21. Allan Dykstra and closer Jeff Walters of Binghamton are awarded with Eastern League full-season All Star status. I'd be surprised if Dykstra doesn't get a PotY honor as well.
  22. Maybe, but the team had plenty of players of comparable age. So indeed, did the Clearwater Threshers, for comparison. Obviously, candidates for any minor league's Player of the Year are going to be players who stay back and achieve a full season's worth of productivity while others gain promotions. That can be (a) because they're not playing quite that well, and consistently play well enough to compile stats toward a good year while others play just a little better and move ahead, or ( their team thinks their performances have been fool's gold, and aren't yet believers that it can translate to a higher league, or © the team considers themselves well set at the player's position in the leagues ahead of the player's league. So maybe Lawley's nothing more than a non-prospect beating up on the little kids on his block, but if so, he's the first Mets non-prospect ever to win the Florida State League Player of the Year. I wouldn't throw that away.
  23. Promoted to AAA for his efforts.
  24. Dustin Lawley, First-Ever St. Lucie Florida State League PotY PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA- The Florida State League has announced that Dustin Lawley has been named the leagues Player of the Year. The Florida State League Post-Season All-Star team was selected by Field Managers, Official Scorers, and club Sports Writers representing the 12 teams in the league. Lawley is hitting .259 with 25 home runs and 90 RBIs through 117 games played. Lawley has 61 extra-base hits, including 31 doubles and has a .514 slugging percentage as well as 232 total bases. Lawley leads the league in home runs, RBIs, extra-base hits, total bases, and also ranks second in the league in slugging percentage and is tied for third in doubles. The 24-year-old was named a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star and participated in the Home Run Derby. Lawley was selected as the left fielder for the Florida State League Post-Season All-Star Team. Lawley, a native of Adger, Alabama, is four home runs and four RBIs shy of tying the single-season mark in St. Lucie Mets club history. T.J. Rivera was selected to the Post-Season All-Star team as a utility infielder. Rivera leads the Florida State League with 137 hits. He has a .296 average, 1 home run, and 43 RBIs. Rivera ranks fifth in the league in average and is tied for the second with 68 runs scored. Matt Bowman, in his first professional season, was named one of four starting pitchers to the All-Star team. Bowman is 6-4 with a 3.18 ERA through 16 starts. In 96 1/3 innings, he has struck out 90 while walking 31 and has allowed 83 hits and 36 runs (34 earned). Bowman ranks sixth in the league in ERA and is fourth with a 1.18 WHIP. He also ranks third with a .232 opponents batting average against. Bowman is third in the league with the fewest baserunners allowed per nine innings. St. Lucie Mets manager Ryan Ellis was named as one of the three coaches selected to the post-season All-Star Team. Ellis, who was recognized as the Florida State League Manager of the Year in 2012, has guided the Mets currently to a 66-54 record, which is the third best record in the league. The Mets won 37 games in the first half under Ellis and finished in second place in the Florida State League South Division
