  1. Comically bad at-bat by the Ikesmith.
  2. Laggy with a leg hit. An old-fashioned Astroturf hit.
  3. Sheesh, look at those spring numbers for Parnell. A 1.50 ERA? A .105 opponent average? A 0.50 WHIP? Who needs a 100 MPH heater?

  5. Campbell kind of swings the bat like a skinnier Gary Carter. Dives into the pitch.
  6. Oh, mound repair. Can the Mets broadcast booth have a weekly visit from Mel Didier? This guy is gold.
  7. So, what's with the delay?
  8. Yeah! Mel Didier, Montreal scouting director 1970-1975 being interviewed. Real Weeziana accent.
  9. Just tuning in now. Not sure whose voices I'm hearing.
  10. Much of what, though? Much has already changed.
  11. Well, three out of 1,200 is a far cry from normal.
  12. That one inning has bumped EY up a spot in the depth chart.
  13. I would guess some reasons he might not might be because (1) he might view Turner's mobility limitations as less restrictive than Young's relatively weak arm (2) Young hasn't even been in much practice as a secondbaseman, and (3) Turner's innings were probably far less than an ideal choice --- one that Terry'dd probably want to avoid in 2014 if at all possible. But yeah. Go, Terry! Go, EY!!
  14. Ooooh. Exposed duct work. So cool.
  15. "Worse" is sort of generous. Pujols is a fine fielder and a really good baserunner even while not being particularly fast. The best I can say for Cabrera's defense is that he seems indifferent.
  16. Kind of how I was seeing it. Bibby, on the other hand, was mostly rotation filler until he did his best work in his early thirties, three teams after the Cards. That's a long time to wait to kick yourself over a deal.
  17. Let me just che... oh, would you look at that? I've a got a 2002 Kevin Appier.
  18. It is true that $29 million in 2014 won't be $29 million in 2023. Wow! 2023! What are the Red Sox and the Yankees going to be bidding for Mike Trout when they get half a chance? $45 million per season? $50 million?
  19. I can't give you credit for Shamsky, but I can give you credit for that response. That's good because I was afraid the only applause I was going to get was the back o' yo' hand on my face --- when I pulled Shamsky out of MY ASS!
  20. From another thread: batmagadanleadoff wrote: New York Mets traded Art Shamsky, Rich Folkers, Jim Bibby and Charlie Hudson to the St. Louis Cardinals for Jim Beauchamp, Harry Parker, Chuck Taylor and Tom Coulter. Did the Mets win this trade? I think yes in the short term but no in the long term.
  21. Well, apparently going from Inferno to Paradiso doesn't count if you have to pass through Purgatorio! I'll let Dante know!
  22. Yeah, that's what I wrote Orosco for last night. I was confused. Art Shamsky! 1972 Swingin' A!
  23. Alshmo, in his career, Young has gotten on 32.5% of the time, which isn't great, but isn't 30% either.
