  1. Tying run at the plate. A couple of things would make sense.
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, nice to see Ruben playing with confidence out there. Except that it's Q out there tonight. It's late. I wrote one while staring at the other.
  3. Big night for the second string.
  4. Yeah, nice to see Ruben playing with confidence out there. Nice to see Davis taking his walks, too.
  5. HA! Aybar got caught lying..
  6. "Grandpa Laggy, tell us about the time you knocked Jered Weaver out the game."
  7. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Ugh. I was about to start a big Win 4 Willie campaign. The Mets are going to get firebombed for this. Bill Madden will never stop shooting. Six years later. Has he run out of ammo yet?
  8. yeah, i have no idea what you're talking about. I try really hard I get that you don't like superhero movies; you've made that point (sometimes elliptically, but consistently) in many similar threads. No, this isn't true. You keep doing this thing where you put something on me that I absolutely don't say, so you can disagree with me (or "me") and stand up and make a speech. I hope you see you have me all wrong.
  9. The over-reaction plays because self-flagellating Met fans --- many of whom weren't even that warm for Willie to begin with --- gobble it up.
  10. I'm taking the blame for that one. I invoked "Homer at the Bat" after yesterday's game, and BAM! walkoff-hit-by-pitch.
  11. T-R-O-U-B-L-E Capital T
  12. Wright just got thrown out at first from left field.
  13. Respeto por el brazo de Lagares alli.
  14. I think we just got bailed out there by the no-doubles defense.
  15. Whew. How about Framey d'Arnaud on strike two?
  16. So, you're assuring me that PUjols isn't good anymore, right?
  17. Yeah, Wright let himself get screened. He's got to be positioned on the inside part of the bag there. Whether it holds up, I don't know, but Tejada saved a run by getting the lead runner (Cowtown) on the Aybar grounder.
  18. Hey, look, a Colin Cowgill sighting.
  19. I knew about Swannie. But I forgot he got a card. There's a lot of guys there who look less like ballplayers and more like middle management guys who went to a trade show and found this cool booth where you could pose for a card. How many other guys got the floating halo this year? [fimg=250]http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzUzWDU1Mg==/z/ymoAAOxy7nNTR~y5/$_57.JPG[/fimg]
  20. It's a special player who can not only get back there and make the leaping catch put pause to admire his dancing shadow. That shadow should get its own baseball card.
  21. HEF! Round 46! Oh, sure, technically he didn't sign and went to college. And then the Padres drafted him, and the Mets only got him after the Pirates grabbed him off waivers, and the Mets grabbed him from the Buccos. But still, inspired pick!
  22. If I hear one more reference to Willywhacking, I'm gonna get mean.
  23. Interesting. Did you feel he was too independent and mature and best-days-are-behind-me-ish?
  24. Chris Martin inducting Peter Gabriel into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame last night: "He brings together sounds from all over the world. At times it feels like he releases music at a snail's pace. But one looks back now and sees this amazing cathedral of song. It was worth the effort and the time that it took. He's always been an innovator and a seeker. He's a curator and an inspirer. He also helped John Cusack get his girlfriend back in the movie Say Anything."
