  1. Well, sure they all have downsides, some of them big. But if the alternative is Chris Young --- and I know you don't like EY --- you may consider shopping.
  2. Certainly the outfield needs some addressing, but the rankings above suggest they're certainly adequate --- better than the mean certainly --- in center and right. But have been a torrential disaster in left. Only the Phils and Domonic Brown suddenly remembering what he was keeps the Mets out of the cellar. (Makes a man wonder what, exactly, Brown was on last year.) So, considering that my Alex Gordon notion may be pie-in-the-sky. Assuming that the team wants to address this shortcoming this season rather than waiting, where do you think they will or should go? I'm about left field, I am. Some leftfielders also make good backup firstbasemen. Very few of the above solve anything beyond this season. Many offer only a modest promise that they'll do even that. All intrigue to one degree or another when held up next to Chris Young. Lots of Cubs and White Sox on the list. Phillies galore, too. If the Mets made a sudden push, I could see the team acquiring a pile of Phillies the way the Phillies grabbed Wendell, Cook and Pratt in 2002. If. Willingham is almost always a good have-bat/will-travel guy. Professional hitter, he.
  3. Kingsport makes eight errors, ... but wins anyhow by scoring eight runs in the bottom of the eighth. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2014_07_07_pulrok_kptrok_1&t=g_box&sid=milb
  4. Its one of the worst calls Ive ever seen. --- Fredi F. Gonzalez How is denying his team the stupid privilege of enjoying a clearly blown call one of the worst calls you've ever seen? Fredi, your argument should be with your shortstop, not with the umps.
  5. Indeed, all four Mets RBI came with two out. So your system must've sustained some serious punishment.
  6. I have to say, it was kinda unprofessional of Ruben to yell, "Bite me, Starlin Castro!" during the postgame.

Yeah, with the lack of a protest, the lack of a Kimbrel, I feel pretty blessed by the Braves. Also wondered if Tosca was giong to go with five infielders, but nobody does that with two out.
  8. I love these uniforms.
  9. We gotta get him to go lie on the couch. --- Keith on Anthony Varvaro having trouble executing an intentional walk
  10. Loved seeing Laggy put his head down and pump there.
  11. OK, good time for a Doody BombTM.
  12. Always nice to knock one of those badass Braves bullpenners out of the game... until you realize that there's another one right behind him. Tosca holding his closer?
  13. Duda duing some World Cup goaltending.
  14. Better to go a third of the way and stand flatfooted than to go halfway and start backtracking.
  15. Bad read, Soup.
  16. I didn't see Fredi motion to protest before getting tossed. Carlos Tosca, your move.
  17. Man, does Terry look like a stick-up-his-ass marine major.
  18. Yup. But the league wimped out on the reviewablity of the neighborhood play. Fredi Gonzalez should protest.
  19. If that's a strike, all checked swings are strikes.
  20. bmfc1 wrote: 3 pitchers in one inning. I wish that someone would tie Terry's little legs to the bench so he couldn't make these pitching changes. Let Black get 3 outs. Once again, he's burned through the bullpen instead of showing confidence in his players. The bullpen isn't burned through. Zvon wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Somebody's going to get hit tomorrow for the Mets. I don't see it. Both (this and the Matz one earlier) were obviously unintentional and one bagged 'em a run. It's not just intentional pitches that lead to retaliation.
  21. Guys, I appreciate you wanting to get an inning of chat out of that cutoff. But the throw was going up the line, the runner was going to score, and they got the out. What's to talk about? GRANDY!!! THAT'S WHAT!!
  22. Well, the Braves earned that one, at least in part.
  23. Somebody's going to get hit tomorrow for the Mets.
  24. Mets hanging tight. d'Arnaud looking more like a pro these days. Strange to see Matsuzaka pitching this deep with the shutout when he's been in trouble most innings. Minor, though, is now at 13 in a row. Got to dream up some tack-ons, Mets.
  25. Upton runs with his fist balled up around his gloves like Wright.
