The Marlins have a lot of vowels in their catching corps, and no small amount of consonants as well, with Jarrod Saltalmacchia backed up by J.T. Realmuto. Salt has gotten off to a Barajasian start, hitting safely in only two of his first 22 at-bats, but those two hits represent a double and a homer. Low average combined with the strength to punish a mistake is the way he rolls. The Marlins tried to deal him this offseason, but could not find a taker, which has got to burn a guy's butt, knowing the millions you're owed is the only reason your team is keeping you. But hey, there's comfort in the millions. Salty's still a good receiver that his pitchers tend to like, but Realmuto is emerging as one of the better Marlins prospects and will probably be running the show with Jeff Mathis as a backup before the first half is out.
