Is Torres another guy who shot-puts his throws to the bases?

It's not fair to call Curtis "indifferent" there. He was hustling. Clumsy, but hustling.

Strickland untouched.

A lot of strikeouts looking for Granderson these days.

Feeling ungracious about Dave Righetti talk in the booth.

When a CIA analyst (Melissa McCarthy) has the dashing field operative she supports (Jude Law) killed while she's communicating with him remotely, she puts her training to use and heads into the field, seeking to track down the Russian arms dealer (Rose Byrne) behind the kill. Fellow agent Jason Statham totally isn't into her. Hijinx? Oh, they can't help but ensue. Viewing this evening. Lady's choice. McCarthy is totally irresistible. Ditto the movie. — Peter Travers·Rolling Stone Don't lead me astray here, Travers. The last McCarthy movie you steered innocent moviegoers to was crap.

Meridian is Number 10 on the map above. Dennis Boyd is nicknamed "Oil Can" and Steve Forbert wrote "The Oil Song."

I haven't seen them announce a roster move yet to active d'Ar, but it's clearly Plawecki going. Only drama is whether he goes to Vegas or to the DL. I have to get out of here in 15 minutes, so my edgycated guess says the latter. Activations are fun. It can be like a trade without giving somebody up. Activations where the guy may not be particularly game-ready, though, are not as fun. UConn? How did Siena let Vincent Siena get away? It's like people aren't even trying anymore.

That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. REVENGE! [fimg=450:1ueuulb1]http://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m7nrq9kTkF1rae5vno1_1280.jpg[/fimg:1ueuulb1]

The rules kind of stink in that regard. If he had been able to re-sign with Atlanta before that game even ended, I think all parties would have been amenable.

With regard to it being game 162, no doubt, but mantras of detachment, I guess, was the habit he practiced.

Yeah, it's Terry's job to let the game drive him nuts. The players can't afford to. That's the problem with Tom Glavine's comments. Sports psychologists would (and do) tell you he was right, and his attitude, as infuriating as it was, is what allowed him to be Tom Glavine. You need fire and fury, but you also need to pace it through 162 games. The Jets had some guy back in the sixties and seventies who reportedly would make a point of walking home after losses. Like 30 miles or something. He had this bizarre novelty act where he could eat glass and was also known to take a bite out of a bottle or something after disappointing loss. (Maybe that's what he did when they were on the road.)* Football allows you to burn down the mission after a loss, because you have a week to recover, or at least until Wednesday or something, when full contact practice starts. But baseball demands you file away that shit, adjust, and move on, even as fans find that infuriating. ______________ * This is all likely at least partially bullshit passed on to me by my father, but it speaks to issue.

I understand the clear inadequacy of the offensive production, but it's not true that the bats haven't battled back at least once. Ain't that right, Wilmer. (Are the scorecards gone from the UMDB?)

I sure hope d'Arnaud is something like ready. Because Plawecki/Recker (along with Campbell) has been the real black hole in the lineup.

Would-be Giant-slayers Travis d'Arnaud and Dilson Herrera are expected to be activated for the game. I'm no soothsayer, but I foresee Daniel leaving tonight on a plane. Kevin, too.

In perhaps the worst timing since the release of Space Camp, a soccer drama comes out about the origins and evolution to the present day of FIFA, largely financed and developed by FIFA themselves. Even putting aside the convergence of the release with the organization mired in scandal (mired up to the neck, I would say), who would want to see a sports movie dramatizing the history of a sport's governing body? I'll leave this poll-less for now, as I don't expect anybody to actually see this barring a stuck-on-a-long-flight scenario a few months from now. International big shots Fisher Stevens, Thomas Kretschmann, Tim Roth, Sam Neill, and Gerard Depardieu [crossout]shill[/crossout] star.

Maybe, but those outlooks are assuming an aggressiveness and gamesmanship that are not characteristic of this squad's offense. And really guys, ceetar's not the one who misdated the thread.

Matt Harvey defends against Tim Hudson. Four no-hitters in four years is gluttony, Giants.

Baseball at its highest and most ruthless level of competition, and the batter's supposed to compromise his chances to succeed. Yeah right. Keith of all people. Is this a question of honor? I wonder how many times Pete Rose bunted to try and end a no-hitter after the fif... oh, wait. Still, If I'm coaching this team, I want at least one bunt an inning. Ruthless indeed.

Hey, Keith: I hate that "You don't bunt during a no-hitter" logic.

Well... that's a wide plate.

But... he's good about taking a pitch to the meat.
