  1. Kelly batting for d'Arnaud? With two out in the ninth? Ok ...
  2. You don't swing at the first pitch, Loney. You just don't.
  3. Worth it, if only to rediscover this great Cleon photo. [fimg=500:9t51z8uc]http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7315/11957544955_5544ae6a9a_b.jpg[/fimg:9t51z8uc] Cleon didn't have it.
  4. KAPOWSKI! You can start your own search engine.
  5. Hey, Matzie, give your catcher a fighting chance.
  6. Four Ks in a row.
  7. Hurrah! A bunt against the shift! Boo! Greinke is the best fielder in the league.
  8. cooby wrote: I miss metirish I bet he and Willets Point party together all the time.
  9. Mo Vaughn? Didn't he retire at the end of May or something? At any rate, the guy has his fingers in a lot of pies, and I'm guessing he's crazy rich.
  10. As predictions go, Rafael Montero certainly was a prediction. Yikes.
  11. Keith: "It's nice to see Bruce going up the middle." Well he had to thread a needle up there. When he could have driven two trucks tandem through the left side.
  12. Wow, crazy gamble by d'Arnaud.
  13. Good looking pajamas, though. Matz should have fielded that, or at least gotten his glub on it.
  14. There was also a thread called "Only the Wall Was White" that I can't find. "Only the Wall Was Aqua Green" was a reference to that.
  15. Anybody knows how to make our internal search work better, shoot your admins an e-mail.
  16. I tend to think that, by now, he'd be close enough that he'd play on until he got it—milestone conscious as he seems to be. Besides, you just know THE ESTABLISHMENT would want him to take that record away from Stinky Pete.
  17. That's like a lineup of once-coveted proposed Mets acquisitions.

  19. I certainly wouldn't conclude that he won't get called up on matter how well he plays. There simply has to be room.
  20. Mets rank seventh in starting pitching ratings. I hoped they'd be more like third by now, but Matt Harvey and his thoracic outlet haven't cooperated. Zach Wheeler's UCL and Matz's and Syndergaard's bone spurs could be a little more compliant too. Not far behind the Mets are the imaginary team of ex-Mets, despite the former acquiring Jon Niese from the latter. Some of the quality of the ex-Mets still lies in value they built up as Mets (Dickey). Some (McHugh) not so much. 21. Why the sigh? That's good. I'm not really sure why it belongs in the roster thread, though.
  22. It's no small thing to consider, because there is so little precedent, but the fact that he had the equivalent of a full and spectacular career in Japan by age 26 has to be taken into account when considering his legacy. It may not be apples-to-apples to make a blanket statement that he has more total hits than Pete Rose, but it's not nothing either. He has the most career hits while playing at the highest level available to him at the time, and he's still going. It's like Babe Ruth's pitching career, or Lefty Grove in Baltimore, or Ted Williams in Korea. It's part of the story, even if it's not part of the main stat line, and the legacy is incomplete without it.
  23. Was that one opposite field homer an inside-the-parker as it appears here, or was a it a shorter fence than is shown?
  24. Since downloading that chart, after the Mets/Tiggs series, deGrom has passed Justin Verlander and moved up to #13. Bartolo too, has moved up, leapfrogging Wei-Yin Chen into the 47th position.
