  2. This guy looks like Ed Kranepool pitching out there.
  3. Way to get out of that, Jerry. Way to stick with your guy, Terry. Way to stay at bay, Worry.
  4. Hey, Teufel, it's a night game. Lose the shades.
  5. How did Pagan let that ball get past him? He was moving like James Loney out there.
  6. Crazy luck. Four straight two-out hits. Lots of inside outies. Lots of balls dropping on the line and throwing up chalk. Not to say it's all luck, of course.
  7. That was a ... pitch to hit.
  8. A Ruggiano grand slam to straightaway center would have been a great thing to predict going into the game.
  9. Trading him for Torres was one of the handsomest challenge trades ever. Certainly the handsomest exclusively involving Puerto Ricans.
  10. Denard Span is sporting some silver in his beard. Speaking of beards, it's Angel Pagan.
  11. Five Red Sawx: Pedro Martinez, Pumpsie Green, Move On, uh ... Lou Gorman ... Don Zimmer?
  12. Royals: Whitey Herzog, Amos Otis, David Cone, um ...
  13. Rangers: Nolan Ryan, Tom Grieve, and ... Bobby Valentine.
  14. Yeah, I'd try to come up with some twisted logic about how the loss was your fault, but I didn't have the heart.
  15. Nats isn't likely Johnson, but Frank Howard. The phiphth Phillie is Dallas Green.
  16. I'm totally OK with not dealing. I'm just saying that if you're going to be dealing, this is what deadline deals look like. But hey, they dealt from strength, and they dealt the guy whose options were running out.

Could promoted Herrera instead of trading for Bruce. OK, I'm not sure that was a solution to anything, but sure. I can get behind that.

  19. I think Wally's opinion is colored by him having different options. He has a good hitting shortstop to play second. The Mets have Kelly Johnson and Wilmer Flores, both of whom have the arm for third, but not necessarily the nimbleness for the keystone. Anyhow, it looks like Terry is thinking this way too, as Johnson and Rivera have switched assignments tonight.
  20. We are the knights who say, "Niese!"
  21. Niese, your time is now.
