And Cabrera hacks at pitch one. What in the world?

Keep taking that first strike, Mets.

Questionable call at first ... AGAIN!

Four walks, but Dickey was all over the place.

Maybe we can improve on this four-hit total against Eric O'Flaherty.

Five-pitch inning. Take a few, guys.

The Curtis Granderson-as-pinchie experiment gets off to an ignoble start.

Man, not only is Harvey no match for an old, rusty, and gimpy knuckleguy, but the Braves have brought their glovies.

Could Harvey have been a bigger cock here?

People are actually "throwing money" at Colin Cowherd? Every day I feel stupider for having been surprised by the rise of Trump.

Larry Vanover with the de rigueur terrible call at first.

Dickems not getting the low strike.

You've missed something special. To know Boo is to love him. And I don't want to presume, but I'd guess you'd love him more than most.

There's also Flores returning, and hopefully Duda isn't too far out. Two more infielders keeps Jay Bruce in the outfield. All this pressure is pointing at Curtis Granderson. I think he'd probably be a perfectly fine pinch-hitter. It'd make it take that much longer to dig out of is hole, though, so he's going to have to look up at the scoreboard and see some wretched numbers no matter how decent he is doing going forward. When he got signed for four years, I thought he'd be shifted to part time/reserve status in year three, so I already feel like anything we get from him his a bonus. I'd hate to waste too many PA going forward and not getting anything from him, however. Or maybe he goes in trade for a relatively expensive, historically decent-to-good starting pitcher who has gotten off to an horrendous start. Bronson Arroyo or somebody. Heck, maybe Bartolo.

It's not like there's a lot of free agents to be had by a team with a wide open purse. Dillon Gee, of course, debuted in 2011, when the team had something like the fifth-highest payroll. Of course, even in 2011, with the fifth-highest payroll, they were tapped out.

Reporter: "Terry, did you spot anything in the first that suggested to you there might be something wrong with Syndergaard." Terry: "He was hitting a hundred, so no. He was hitting a hundred." Edgy: "Yeah, he was hitting a hundred ... and getting hammered."

Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith yesterday: 4-8, 3 BBs, 2 2Bs, 1 HR, 3 RS, and 4 RBI, including the walkoff game-winner in the 11th. They're regularly batting 3rd and 4th for the Vegas squad and are two of the top players in the league. Sacramento's Christian Arroyo is probably the only thing standing between Rosario and the PCL Player of the Month, and Arroyo's played both in AA and the bigs already, so he's only gotten into 16 PCL games, compared with Rosario's 24, so I'm hacking into the PCL database and awarding the trophy to Rosario.
