Friday night in the City of Fraternal Affection, as Steven Matz takes the bump against Jake Arrieta and the Phils. The Mets have the day off today, while the Phils wrap up their series hosting the Giants with an afternoon feature, having won the first three as part of a four-game winning streak. The Phils enter today's game in second place, two and a half games ahead of the Mets, who have fallen into fourth, a half game behind the Washington Nationals.

Interesting how Bob Gibson makes the recipe but doesn't get an illustration.

It's pretty nice composition for 1987B. The only problem I have with the layout is too much space is given to an inconsequential skyscraper, with the point of it's inclusion, the celebration below, largely obscured. I still went for my sweet little 66.

Buck it the putz.

So, Robles and Blevvie are both unavailable?

Is Céssie available to pinch-hit?

Leadoff walk for Nimmo is WHERE IT'S AT!

That would wake me up.

Basically, when dudes bat out of order, historically, the opposing manager waits until something bad happens, such as Cabrera's double, before signaling to the umpiring crew. Personally, I think that's pretty butt. Bruce was batting in the correct spot and he gets scrod. Call it on Flores or don't call it at all.

The lineup was wrong. Bruce never came up. It gets scored a putout for the catcher.

Nymr83 wrote: Friend told me Bruce just got skipped? What the fuck is going on here???? He was called out for having a baby. Hey, fantastic relay throw by the second baseman there. Who are you? Bernard Gilkey?

Wheeler succeeds in not digging a first-inning holio!

Batting out of order?

Three days is pretty standard. I'm excited to get more Nimgares, and to have Francessa back on the air to share his well reasoned and healthy thoughts on paternity leave.

A leftover from spring training, but a good story about Luis' playroom. I had believed the Mets' site which had reported him as US-born. Luis Guillorme Sr. knocked down a wall to turn two rooms into one large one. With a little imagination, Luis Jr. turned it into his personal defense experimentation zone. He’d get whatever balls he could — baseballs, tennis balls, racquetballs — and entertain himself for hours while unknowingly building his now-incredible hand-eye coordination. “Kids here have a little playroom with toys and stuff,” Guillorme said. “I had an empty room with nothing in it but a ball and a glove.”

While I'm excited by this callup, I'm given pause by the notion that, if Guillorme is truly the superior shortstop (as virtually all reports suggest), it'll be him floating around the infield looking for spots, while Rosario stays fixed at short, because of his superior brand. It was a losing play when Matsui started at short over Reyes. It was a losing play when Jeter started at short for the Yankees over Alex Rodriguez. And heck, it was a losing play when Davy Johnson split time evenly between Jeter and defending MVP Jimmy Rollins in the World Baseball Classic. Kowtowing to the brand is a losing play. I know it's very likely wrong, but I feel like it's Florrie's first start against a righthander this season.

Well, that re-sets up the the great Tim Tebow conflict that the Mets seemingly escaped when they sold Matt Reynolds' contract to Washington.

Luis comes in riding a nine-game hitting streak with Las Vegas, with at least two hits in each of the last six games, and a triple and a homer in his very last game. He's very hot right now. Here's hoping they get him into the lineup. A .394 OBP!

I like how the kid's fingers are visible through the cutout portion of the glove, and don't even reach the place in the glove they are supposed to be inserted.

Rockin' Doc wrote: Centerfield wrote: No really. Why is Robles on this team? The same could be said for Jason Vargas. As bad as Harvey was, I think he was better than Vargas and definitely had more upside. I think Harvey's his surly, prickish personality contributed to his departure. Well, Harvey doesn't have a two-year deal, and has a longer trend line of failure.

Centerfield wrote: No really. Why is Robles on this team? Well, not to do this. I think they're saving him for the Votto trade.

GameDay is listing Mesoraco as an available player on the Mets bench, and as an available player on the Reds bench.

Did Conlon get much ink in Ireland?
