It's been all hugs for Jeurys Familia after he was held out of the Subway Series opener. Stay up late and listen for news of a possible new destination for the burly reliever! Maybe others! And possible brand new Mets coming the other way!

Hugs for Familia.

Great at-bat by Conforto. Made me cry to see him not chasing the breaking pitch beneath his knees.

Sheesh, Familia doesn't even have his sweatshirt off.

There's that Walker range I remember.

Frayed Knot wrote: That K of Sanchez just jacked our odds of winning this game up to 8% Now I'll be curious after the game to see what the actual WPA+ on that play was.

Mickey living a lot on luck tonight. Get Familia a margin for error, gentlemen.

84 pitches by Syndergaard, man. Maybe they lifted him because there was a trade on the table.

Rosario playing for the double play, and that dribbler by Judge has them out of the inning.

What a shit night for everybody named Amed Rosario.

Get deGrom up in the pen.

Hot water.

Why is young Kevin McReynolds working as the Yankee ballboy?

Asdrubal is always buddy-buddy with guys on the basepaths, but he looks like BFFs with Walker.

Now they've got the lead down to three, one duck still on the pond, and 11 outs to get, and Syndergaard in the showers.

No knock on Lugo, but bailing after 84 pitches from Synder makes little sense to me.

Yankees with fewer Yankee Wins Above Replacement than Winfield who nonetheless have their numbers retired: Phil Rizzuto, Reggie Jackson, Roger Maris, Elston Howard, Billy Martin (yeah, I know).

Sheesh, Shreve, how'd you get a shutout inning throwing that slop? Kind of weird to see 31 on a Yankees' back. I imagine they've retired a half dozen numbers of guys who gave them less than Winfield.

Gee, I'm sorry Nimmo got thrown out, but I have to say, Stanton looked like a real golem out there in right. I don't remember him being that much of a statue with the Marlins.

I have to say that I love the Yankees' straightaway infield defense. It kind of turns me on a little bit.

Germán's curveball doesn't seem like much, but Rosario went down taking pictures of it.

The Mets beating the Yankees tonight was the featured bout, but on the undercard, the DSL Mets 1 beat the DSL Yankees, 3-0, securing the win with a one-hitter. Junior Santos threw five hitless innings, walking one and striking out four, before making way for Jhonfran Escalona, who threw the last four innings, allowing one hit and walking none, earning the super-rare four out save!

Got to appreciate the Mets financial wisdom, swapping out D. Smith for D. Smith and saving a small fortune in embroidery fees. Still too many relievers.
