Trying to get some info on the recently acquired Bobby Wahl, I turned to Mets radio broadcaster Howie Rose who said that Both "Bobby Wahl" and "Will (not William) Toffey" sound like hockey names. While I tend to agree, I wasn't sure that was the sort of hard-hitting inside info that would illuminate this mysterious transaction. So I turned to Nashville Sounds media director Chad Seely. Chad's probably about pitching good stories, but just last night, he was getting absolutely slobbery about the newest Met. [tweet]https://twitter.com/Chad_Seely/status/1020426528214175744[/tweet]
  2. If it's true that only 10 out of 5,000 MLB employees are veterans, how remarkable that one of them was until, very recently, the GM of the team that fired him. The message, as always, is don't tweet.

  4. Take a strike, but bunting isn't beneath you, José.
  5. "That looks like Marlon Brando in Missouri Breaks." — Keith for the win.
  6. den Dekker is having the game today that Rosario had yesterday.
  7. Oldest guy on the team giving them a leg run. Assist from the youngest guy on the team working the diversion.
  8. Well, they've got two on in the sixth. It's a rough Yankee bullpen, so let's get on 'em now.
  9. Not often that you run out of players in an American League game. Maybe they make Syndergaard the DH.
  10. I'm thinking Nimmo didn't try to get out of the way of that one.
  11. Full count on dD. PLEASE run Rosario.
  12. Nice try, dD, but if you backed off and tried to cut the ball off, that run probably doesn't score.
  13. Go out there and get your money's worth, Roessler.
  14. Matz is throwing hard and working fast. Pitching to contact, too.

  16. Don't worry. They got a million guys in the bullpen. Meanwhile, Rosario is showing his quality this inning.

But I'll tell you what I told that homicidal maniac Conor McGregor: NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS! I'm not here to flirt. I'm a woman just trying to do her job!! And in such a role, I've been trying to get the skinny on which players may or may not be coming the other way, but nobody's talking. And that's their prerogative of course, but Billy Beane didn't have to go and call me "fake news." That's just wrong.
  18. Wow. Too much milk! That's a new one.
  19. I thought Mick was boneheading his way through this, but hey, the guy is undefeated after the All-Star break across his WHOLE CAREER!

[fimg=600]http://www.justine-ward.com/uploads/1/5/6/2/15621810/rangers-justine_orig.jpg[/fimg] Thanks, John! I'm here in the lower ring of famed Madison Square Garden! Rumors are rumors, but one thing that seems to put the A's on the inside track is the news tonight that they've released veteran righthander Santiago Casilla. Casilla had an ERA of just 3.16 this season, but his walks have been up and the A's have been using him with decreasing frequency. Santiago has spent his entire 15-year career pitching for Bay Area teams, has a fistful of rings from his days in San Francisco, and owns a 0.92 post-season ERA over the course of a not-insignificant total of 19 2/3 innings. So the move has struck many in baseball as surprisingly decisive by Billy Beane, who will have to eat the remainder of Casilla's $6 million salary. All the executives I've talked to say there's another shoe ready to drop in Oakland. Met fans tonight are wondering if that shoe is big and Domincan, and how Oakland TV announcers Glen Kuiper and Ray Fosse might add to the many ways "Jeurys" can be pronounced! The night is young and there's more to come! Keep it right here!
