Wilson threw one inning since being activated. Otherwise, they would have been able to make his injured list day retroactive far enough back that they would be able to activate him tomorrow. I don't think they're looking to activate him tomorrow. Luis Guillorme. It's hard for me to believe it was his own choice, but maybe he discovered it in college. It would make more sense if he had an African-American girlfriend.

Rosario fumbles another backhand and the tying run is at the plate.

I thought it was "Black Dog." But I wasn't listening closely at the moment (dog barking, actually).

It's nice that the Geico cavemen could get dressed up for this game and enjoy some cocktails from the second row. Yeah, what the Devil? Is Yacht Rock shooting at CitiField tonight? https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/screen-shot-2019-05-11-at-9.32.07-pm.png>

deGromowicz done after seven with a 4-1 lead. Lugissimo on for the eighth. Good to see Nido making more contact, but his swing has gotten d'Arnaud-long and I don't think he'd be getting these kind of knocks against a better pitching staff.

I can't believe the Marlins are going back to those awful blue-on-black tops.

That 1-for-29 start was d'Arnaudian for Altherr. Maybe the Mets should have called the Phils.

https://ssl.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000827C9aYNhOQ/s/860/860/MiLB-041917-0430-MJ.jpg > Hi, I'm Josh Torres. I'm a soulful Puerto Rican who has been around the block a few times. Originally wigned by the Brewers, I played with that system from 2012 to 2015 before being tossed over the side and getting fished out by the Mets. The Brew Crew tried to make me a starter, but the Mets have wanted nothing to do with that shit, and I've been a reliever ever since. But, you know, what a reliever! In 49 1/3 innings with Bingo last season, I spit up a 1.19 ERA, striking out 58 and walking only 14. You know what my record was? I was 9 and freaking 0. You might say that getting credited with a win or a loss is a deceptive stat. I might agree with you if I wasn't walking around with nine of those wins and zero losses all offseason. Ask Harol Gonzalez what he thinks of wins and losses. But 2018 had to end and the Mets, impressed by what I'd done, invited me to camp for the second straight year, and then ... sent me back to Bingo. FWHAT!! I carpetbombed that league last year and you think I need to return?! But it was stupid to throw a fit, and then, after only 10 2/3 innings I hit the IL. While all the Hanholds and Rhames get called up and down, I remain in purgatory in upstate. But I'll be back again. This time I will try to show that I'm not trying to pretend. And try I will. Make guarantees I cannot. So you tell me: what's gonna happen?

Here, of course, Dave steals his riff from himself. But man, what a great solo.

Strange how the Mets gave up three guys (marginal guys, but still) for Broxton and still have never really come up with a role for him.

Well, Travis had a salary attached to him when the Mets were dangling him, but yeah, if that deal was available for LA, it's not unreasonable to guess that something might have been available to the Mets if they offered to eat his salary. It's speculative, because who knows how needs change from week to week, but it's not unreasonable.

Questions About the Universe In Guardians of the Galaxy, there was all this falderal about how infinity stones are so vastly powerful that they destroy all but the most powerful beings from the most ancient of races who would choose to wield one. How come, in this film, folks are tossing them around like jelly beans? Where does Thanos' army even come from? Was the time portal jammed open? How do they get troop transport ships through there? Military strategy: Thanos' army, in this film as well as Avengers: Infinity War, is largely made up of ravenous canine-like creatures, of limited intelligence, that do all their fighting hand-to-hand, and maw-to-guts, so in the last film, the Avengers largely oppose them with a hand-to-hand army from Wakanda, led by hand-to-hand fighters Black Panther and Captain America. How about some artillary? How about some ballistics? How about some air support? Missiles? It seems there are a lot of military forces in the world that could have really helped out in both films. Thanos had a gunship hovering overhead in this film. Shouldn't the few airborne folks in the Avengers army — War Machine, Iron Man, Pepper, Falcon, etc. — have been dispatched to take out that ship right off? Why did Dr. Strange open up all those portals in front of Thanos' army? Wouldn't it have been more effective if some of the incoming army had appeared on Thanos' flanks or behind him? And if Dr. Strange can open up portals that big, including portals that can transport beings from planet to planet, why. not just open a big hole underneath Thanos' army that opens on the other side in deep space. Wong also did some cool thing in the first movie when they're battling in Union Square or something, where he opens up a portal and sends a giant Hulk-sized thug of a creature into some tundra environment. When the creature tries to jump back through the portal, Wong closes it, and the creature gets it's forearm cut off by the closing portal. Why doesn't Strange try that on Thanos in either movie? Open a portal beneath his feet, and then close it on him really fast and cut him in half? Easy peasy. Thanos gets to handle Thor's axe? Does Stormbringer not have the charm that Mjolnir has to only be held by the worthy? What happens to Gomorrah? She's there, she save's Quill's ass, she kicks him in the nuts, and then she's mysteriously gone. Part of the closing action seems to be setting up a third GotG film in which they search for her. These are the questions that keep me up at night.

It's stinks to celebrate your first Schaefer Pitcher of the Month by hitting the DL, but it's cool to have the Schaefer Bench Player of the Month to come up to take your roster spot. Jed Lowrie had been mostly stinky on his minor league rehab assignments, but he broke out last night with Syracuse, going 3-4 with a homer. Expect to see him finally join the Mets today or tomorrow. Amazingly, despite the Fireflies taking the field tonight with a pitcher who has a 6.00 ERA, and the home team starting a twirler with a figure of 1.23, the Flies jumped ahead 3-0 in the first and held on for the 3-1 victory. A big part of it was swapping out Christian James and going instead with newly re-activated Colin Holderman to start.

Sure. He said as much. But what we need is predictions. And hey, after tonight's awesome game in which he went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, he's up to .136 / .200 / .193 // .393.

In my head, there was a "What are we gonna do about Chili?" item on the agenda as well. If I was Mattingly, I'd rather be the Mets' batting coach than the Marlins' manager, and I'd ask the Mets if I could stay behind and join them when the Marlins left town.

I don't know if this Cash Considerations kid can play, but the Trolley Dodgers got more back for d'Arnaud than the Mets ever did. Here's hoping he wrecks the Yankees a dozen times over.

Congratulations, Northwell Health and the Katz Women's Institute. Surprising that Mattingly was able to get the last five innings out of two pitchers. Good for him. I don't know why he's putting up with this disgrace. I realize there are only 30 MLB managing jobs, but he should either be resigning or publicly criticizing ownership. And yeah, that blue-on-black thing is just a terrible look for the Marlins — a team that knows a thing or two about terrible looks. Their new home togs that they wore when the Mets were in Miami were smart and classic right out of the box. How could the same designers have failed so badly trying to translate those features to a road uni?
