  1. Holy crap! A 1985 double play!
  2. It looked like Vargas took off right away. He was just beaten. Beyond that, I don't think we're going to see Alonso lifted for defense again any time soon.
  3. deNeil! delaNeil! Ui Niall!! d'Neil!! MacNeal!!! FitzNeil!! Abu Neil!!! Giving that a rest, the veteran of the game and deGrom looked like brothers.
  4. MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: CATCH THE ACTION!!
  5. I negotiated a half truce between those two. I might have done it just to see if I could. RK apologized. METSSC ("Metsy" to KC) rejected it though, citing a whole lot of shit he had taken. RK, to his credit, agreed, saying that even though he was sincere in his apology, Metsy had no obligation to pretend he hadn't ripped him to shreds just an hour before. I'm not sure where it went from there. They're probably either BFFs now or their beef has spilled over onto multiple platforms and is bigger than ever. But, while nostalgia is fun, I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if Metsy wasn't a #MAGA troll these days. https://twitter.com/metsscThink this is him?
  6. How about Ollie Perez 2007 for the closest they've come to a #46 All-Star? I originally thought Neil Allen, but I was surprised to see he did more good work as a 13.

  8. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: we gotta get metsc over here. He could be a knucklehead but there was a purity to it, his feuds with "Rich" were awesome fun He hated any hitter who wasn't hot at the time, but loved-loved Rey, who was hot none of the time.
  9. If it didn't mean removing somebody else from the 40-man roster, I tend to think he'd've gotten the call-up yesterday instead of Guillorme. The Mets already have two shortstops. What they're a little short on is righthanded bats. Dilson was René Rivera's big cheerleader for his three-homer game: https://milb.bamcontent.com/assets/images/5/3/0/308643530/cuts/1024x576/cut.jpg> By the way, this was only last week. How weird is it that we're sweating our ballz off, and they're still wearing layers?
  10. I chronologically transposed Cone's two numbers in the list that appears on MBTN (fixed above). Should be Cone wearing 44 in 1988 ASG, 17 in 1992. You see, I noticed this, and I thought, "That sounds completely wrong — reversed, even — but G-FaFiF MUST know what he's talking about, and I just need to get with the program." That's unhealthy.

  12. This was the random assortment of thumbnails I got today on the front page of Baseball-Reference: https://metsinpeace.files.wordpress.com/2019/07/screen-shot-2019-07-02-at-5.08.22-pm.png> How weird that (1) their photo of Jed Lowrie is in a Met kit that he still hasn't officially appeared in, and (2) Daisuke Matsuzaka, despite 132 games started in the Major Leagues (and 26 relief appearances), they depict him in a Las Vegas 51s uniform.
  13. Matz becoming a swing man only makes his dedicating of his season to Tom Hausman that much more profound.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Frayed Knot wrote: Nice juggling act Wilson! A catcher can NOT play a foul tip off his body and still get credit for Strike 3, but that one went glove-hand-glove so it counts. Thanks for clarifying. I thought it hit his mask too on one of those juggles.
  15. Ends a Yankee streak of 31 games with a homer. THIS AIN'T LONDON, HOMIES!!
  16. WOW! I didn't think catching a tip by bobbling it would count as strike three. I always thought it had to be a clean catch.
  17. The last time the Mets played in rain this hard ... well, they still haven't recovered.
  18. No reason not to challenge ... except you might be taking the pitcher out of his groove.
  19. Special thanks for striking out on Ball Four there Edwin Encarnación.
  20. Yeah, but, you know, the idea is for there not to be a bottom of the ninth.
  21. Hech should be staying in to play second maybe.
  22. Do you really need to bring the infield in to keep Ramos at third on a grounder?
  23. . [bIGPURPLE]POW!!![/bIGPURPLE]

  25. No shift for once on Frazier. Don't bunt, Frazier, don't bunt!
