  1. That inability to advance Frazier past second with no out felt kind of un-professional. The slider away with two strikes is pretty much the bread and butter for both pitchers tonight. I saw Hechy's strikeout coming before the pitch was released.
  2. Whew, deG. trusted that slider away to get Gimenez. Speaking of sliders away, if Alonso ever learns to lay off the slider down and away, he might be a keeper.
  3. And that was an amazing display of terrible swing/terrible hustle by Canót.
  4. Oh, dear, it's Margaritaville Night at the ballpark.
  5. The Cardinals gave up Boots Day when they traded him for Rich Nye.
  6. Yeah, Met pitchers have Vultured themselves to the top of the heap in the second half. The key seems to be a very un-2019-ish capacity for keeping the ball in the park. I can only guess how sustainable that may be. 7. Keeping the bullpen from collapsing by asking less of it. OH DEAR GOD MY PRAYERS ARE WORKING!
  8. I'm pleased that a little over a year and half generated so many Jason Vargas memories. Here's a phun phact: Jason Vargas pitched in 41 games over parts of three seasons (none of them complete) for the Mets, and ended up playing for three different general managers.
  9. It's not really trending in that direction, though, is it? On the other hand, it's not like Charlie Comiskey was particularly worthy of the honor either.
  10. It's highly speculative, but I'm still working from the position that Mike Barwis broke Brandon Nimmo the same way he broke David Wright.
  11. Imagine how it's gonna be when Céspedes gets back.
  12. Conforto turns the knife.
  13. I nodded off to a dream of a wild pitch putting a run on third for the Sox, and woke up to McNeil's homer.
  14. Bunting a dude from first to second in extras is a classic Jerry Manuel move.
  15. I need it more. White Sox, for Pete's sake!
  16. Ramos is swinging a heavy bat. I was hoping that if he reached, we'd see Marcus Stroman make his debut as a pinch-runner.
  17. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Cano and Ramos leaving everyone on base not off the hook neither Alonso has been part of that act too.
  18. Diaz might be good someday if he ever learns the game a little.
  19. Creeps. McCann almost lost his head.
  20. Syndergaard has looked deGrominant with runners on base. Too bad Frazier couldn't cooperate.
  21. The Sox prove they can strand guys in scoring position as well.
  22. Don Cooper wearing a goofy-looking warmup pullover as Chicago pitching coach.
  23. OK, first and third and no out. Let's plate somethin'.
  24. But the Mets aren't picking up their baserunners. Trini Lopez has the Mets chasing upstairs. It's like a knuckleballer is on the mound.
