  1. First pitch swinging against a guy just into the game.
  2. Man, Ramos just feels like a double play in a box this season.
  3. That was some Corsican Brothers shit there. Arrieta hits Gimenez in the thigh and then grabs his thigh in the exact same spot.
  4. That pitch Alonso just popped up was a hunk of meat that would have been devoured by Alonso 19.
  5. A BB by Didi and the Mets are in a hole.
  6. Conforto saves the Earth once more.
  7. And it's 2-zip. The part missing from Porcello's game seems to be a pitch he can get guys to chase. He's got to throw strikes, because breaking stuff outside the zone is just an exercise in getting behind the count.
  8. Porky has the bases loaded out and the Phils are sending up a fourth-inning pinch-hitter in Hasely.
  9. I kind of think that model has worked fine for them. And I don't know why Cohen turning the team into a powerhouse or Rodriguez and Lopez screwing them up is some kind of automatic expectation.
  10. Bryce? Jean? Didi? That's a lot of females in the Phillies lineup today. Finally living up to their nickname! 11. I heard he's planning on changing his name to Rhys Football Team. OHHHHHH!!!!!
  12. I'm looking up and down the roster in my head and much as I see Brandon Nimmo's OBP as a real asset for this team, and his hustle a dream, I think his walkhunting has turned into a real problem. Breaking for first before getting the go-ahead from the home plate ump has not merely led to embarrassment, but is kind of showing up the ump, and by extension, all umps everywhere. That not only makes him less likely to give you the 3-2 pitch in the moment, but less likely to give you borderline calls the next time, and the time after that. And his friends are likely to feel the same. I already got the idea that he was getting on the shit side of umps after getting called twice in one season for hit-by-pitch-hunting. And being halfway to first before understanding that the ump was calling him back. I don't know when robo umps are going to take over home plate, but when they do, I fully expect him to be rewarded with a grand surfeit of walks. Until that happens, though, he needs to attempt to be at least a little cool. It's tough enough to see him looking less like a centerfielder every week. If he's going to stick on a corner, he needs to sand the rough edges down off his offensive game, and getting run up far too regularly looking at a borderline strike three has been rough.
  13. He's been with the organization a long time, actually. He's been the minor league field coordinator since before the Terry Collins era and I think was an instructor with them going back to the 1990s. I'm not sure if it's been uninterrupted service, but it's been a while. He was part of the shakeup way back when Dallas Green was replaced by Bobby Valentine.
  14. With Walker, Dozier, and Dilson, the waiver wires have been a real festival of former Met secondbasemen. Matt Reynolds too. Joe Panik has dodged that bullet so far, however.
  15. My concern is that you raise this prospect with "I'll take this chance," the seeming implication being that his firing is of some sort of paramount importance. I'm just not there.
  16. I'm not sure why Brodie is a villain.
  17. I thought involving himself in negotiations with the players was something we didn't want to see, but I guess you mean whether or not he actually does that. I think we'll get a good sense about Cohen in how he approaches getting the vote of the the supermajority of the owners. I think he will, but it very well could get ugly and it could get public.
  18. This will take some research, and a lot of graphing of functions, but I'm under the impression that they always lose the day of any Drew Smith transactions.
  19. Let's get Erasmo a vic.
  20. Todd just ran like a shmo, but he was outside the baseline when the first throw was inside, and he was inside the baseline when the second throw was outside.
  21. Not so sure Ramirez should be mopping up here. But the guy sure pounds the zone.
  22. And they reap what they sow.
  23. Mets bullpen taking a massive OD of wildness.
  24. Has Racaniello been tossed?!
  25. Brach looks like he's OD'd doughnuts too. Decent movement, but awful mechanics.
