1. "Beauchamp" (French) = Beautiful Field "Aspromonte" (Italian) = Sour Mountain "Ishii" (Japanese) = Stone Well "Mazzilli" (Italian) = Little Bouquets
2. You've got to give me that long-term deal. You've just gotta. After all, there's buzz about giving one to Syndergaard, and he's coming off major surgery, and isn't even on the field yet. Batters are much better investments then pitchers over the long haul, and I'm coming off my best season ... to the extent that you can call that a season. Yeah, I mean, I did hurt myself pretty badly on a non-contact injury — which is the sort of thing pitchers do, but come on! I'm 28-ish, I'm 11th all-time in homers for this franchise, just outside the top 10, and that's something to take to the bank. So tell me about about this year. How am I going to perform, and more importantly, how am I going to get paid? And hey, check out the guest-starring role in this vid played by my new teammie, Kevin Pillar. 4. Post your rule changes here. And while I want them to be never-going-to-happen wild-assed, bonus points if they aren't comic book scenarios, but could actually plausible part of the game that you'd like to see. Everybody in the starting lineup having to pitch one inning? Yeah, I'd like to see that. It could even be like volleyball rules, having each of them all forced to rotate to a new position each inning. And because there are already the same number of players in the game at a time as there are regulation innings, it's almost like the game was always meant to be that way. it'd be the opposite of the far worse notion of the all-dh proposal. Would I go and see that if some wildcat league was playing things that way? You betcha! Would any affiliated league ever seriously consider it? Not in a million years.
5. Terrific outing by Ozzy, who struck out five of six guys he fezzed.
6. I thought the rule was six pitches anyhow.
7. He cleared waivers and was invited to camp as a non-roster Met. Luis Guillorme TOTALLY sounds like a New Yorker.
8. Or maybe I'm confusing the two.

They're running the gauntlet from A to Z today with Apple and Zeile I thought that was Yapple Dapple, although he sounds scratchier. Zeile sounds a little like Seaver, which is way creepy.
10. I don't think it's really true that managers are using 4+ pitchers every seventh inning, although that might have been truer 10 or 15 years ago. Now that they've outlawed the LOOGy, it's going to be hard to blame game length on over-booking the seventh-inning anymore.
11. Guillorme was down 0-2 and then... https://twitter.com/CespedesBBQ/status/1371173422982643713https://twitter.com/CespedesBBQ/status/1371173422982643713 That's terrific. Good managers remember that sort of thing.
12. The Cards had to go and pull the plug on that inning. There are three guys in the booth, but Ron Darling's is the only voice I recognized.
13. Holy shit! Khalil Lee just got plunked too! The Mets need to throw down!
14. Nimmo hit tooo! Lindor walks! Conforto singles! Alonso singes! Mets up, 6-4! Still two on and no out!! Nobody's been hurt!!
15. Down 4-2 in the fifth, but they got something going as Caleb Joseph gets plunked, putting two on and no out for Nimminoski.
16. Weird and annoying rule wrinkles in play this afternoon in St. Lucie, as the Mets use the DH rule while the Cardinals forego the same. 17. I'm always impressed by guys with hand-to-head ratios large enough that that they can hold their own batting helmet by palming the dome. This is not a skill I have ever approached.
18. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=57870 time=1615683810 user_id=119]I don't mind long games. I do mind games that grind to a halt for for stupid reasons. I'm OK with a pitch clock, and enforcing the rule about getting out of the box.
19. That's why LWFS and seawolf represent the bold spirit of the Compleat CranePoolian. Jump in, Predictadores!
20. I realize it's Saturday evening, and we've logged but a few predictions about Carlos Carrasco, but there are a lot of noodles to get to, so we have to keep the line moving. I'm Miguel Castro, and I've thrown a lot of innings for some bad Baltimore teams, and the results have been mixed. I wasn't the reason they were losing, generally, but neither was anybody saying, "Man, if we can just get a few more guys like Castro, and we'd be awesome." But then the Mets acquired me at the trade deadline, and soon they were giving me high leverage innings. And frankly, if you look at me pitch, and forget about the back of my baseball card for a moment, you'd think I was pretty good. I've got some hot, live stuff, but I've never harnessed it enough to be consistently effective. But now I'm a Met, and I've got, like, 11 pitching coaches to guide me. Maybe that helps. Maybe having a little more talent around to take the heat off will help. You know, a few more guys like Castro. Will any of that help? Rick Dempsey has his opinions. How about you?! 21. That's nuttin'. It's before the Hays Code. Hollywood was all risque up until 1929. https://weminoredinfilm.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/red-dust-1932-001-harlow-gable-ecstatic-embrace.jpg?w=500>
22. 1920s Hollywood heartthrob Gilbert Roland, getting his Keith Hernandez on before the world had been blessed with the genuine article. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2021/03/roland.jpg>
23. I feel like I bring things full circle, because the first free agent that Sandy Alderson brought in was D.J. Carrasco, and while that was pretty disastrous, now he's acquired me, and Deej is back as one of the organization's pitching instructors. it's a Carrasco thing. Hopefully this deal isn't disastrous also, even though it's one of those deals centered on an All-Star infielder from Cleveland. You shouldn't make too much of that. PLEASE don't make too much of that ... c'mon guys. Seriously. I don't need that sort of jinx. I'm currently more or less the team's number two starter, and yeah, I may just be keeping that slot warm for Stroman and/or Syndergaard, I don't intend to give it up without a fight, and only you know how that fight is going to work out. And yeah, my arm totally feels fine. Totally.
24. Yeah, but a few years from now, you'll be turning tricks to get his autograff. Luis was signed in the year in between Rosario and Gimenez, but was probably as strong as either of them defensively, exceeded only by Guillorme. But he lacked their pedigree, and a torn labrum and a seemingly low-ceiling bat kept prospect rankers from making much hay of him, and he generally needs a second trip to a level before establishing himself, but but his progress has been steady and his shoulder is now healthy. He had used up the years of his original contract, but the Mets re-signed him as a minor league free agent, which is a confidence booster. BUT ... I'm just now realizing that the report that had him appearing in camp seems to have been wrong, so ... nevermind. But look for him to start in Bingo and work his way up to the 'Cuse before the year is out.
25. If defensive shifts prohibited since the beginning of baseball, but players were doing their best to shift anyhow — perhaps by straddling one foot in the zone and one out — or by breaking from their position as soon as the pitcher began the windup, then the rulemakers would be challenged to see whether their rule was within the spirit of the game, or making a farce of it. I agree with just about every one of Dino J.'s points. People who seemingly don't like baseball are trying to solve problems they haven't actually put much thought toward identifying.
