  1. There has been a lot of ambiguity from the start of this thread about who is watching what games. Hey! Second out!
  2. He was grooving to the "Man on Your Mind" by The Little River Band. What a disgrace. The boombox had to commit suicide.
  3. When Keith Raad introduces Nasim Nunez, I hear Nazi Nunez.
  4. I guess Weaver is to be the hoped-for closer should we hang in there through this inning.
  5. Torrens burning two challenges to no end this inning.
  6. Curious to see who the closer is expected to be tonight. Of course, the tying run is now at the plate, so first we have to get there.
  7. I don't see games against Washington, and I did not see oven mitt involvement.
  8. Gilbert Gomez is the man's name. I'm not sure how much getting picked off can be hung on the first-base coach. Some, certainly.
  9. Bo Bichette seems to have grown unfamiliar with baserunning.
  10. Did I miss something? Am I following the wrong game?
  11. Somehow, I'm always surprised when I find myself blacked out of Nats games.
  12. Thornton was just terrific in 2025 — before an oblique injury ended his season in June. Had all the peripherals you want to see — high strikeout rate, low walk rate, near non-existent homerun rate. Has been used almost exclusively as a starter in his pro and college careers, and it looks like he may be getting the first shot to fill Clay Holmes' slot in the rotation. Also, he comes from Arizona, where there are a lot of clay homes.
  13. Another thought is they could have gotten a look at the stuff Gerber showed up with and concluded he wasn't what they were hoping he'd be. Duarte has given up one run in his last six appearances, covering 10 innings. He's a multiple-inning guy in that sense, and I imagine they were hoping to exploit that, after burning Sean Manaea for the next several days.
  14. Well, they didn't call Gerber up. He was on the roster already when he got hurt. They just activated him. But ... yeah, now they've sent him down. It is true that all teams do it, but no that doesn't make it right. I think it was the success of the Dodgers championship of 2020 — and possibly them going back to 2017 — that got teams really addicted to the idea of sustaining a 10-deep bullpen by constantly rotating a cast of guys through to fill the last two spots. I think it's crazy.
  15. Sunday afternoon's hero Tyrone Taylor is in the starting lineup Monday night. Against a righty, too. METS Starting Pitcher: Christian Scott (RHP) — 0-0, 3.45 ERA Lineup: Carson Benge (L) RF Bo Bichette (R) SS Juan Soto (L) DH Mark Vientos (R) 1B Brett Baty (L) 3B Marcus Semien (R) 2B A.J. Ewing (L) CF Tyrone Taylor (R) LF Luis Torrens (R) C WASHINGTON Starting Pitcher: Jake Irvin (RHP) — 1-4, 5.91 ERA Lineup: James Wood (L) RF Luis García Jr. (L) 1B Brady House (R) 3B CJ Abrams (L) SS Daylen Lile (L) LF Jacob Young (R) CF José Tena (L) DH Jorbit Vivas (L) 2B Drew Millas (S) C
  16. I was shocked that all three tabloids didn't go with TAYLOR MADE.
