  1. And McLean out for the seventh. Keep your jets cooled, Tobias Myers.
  2. I think it makes more sense than is generally appreciated, it's just ... nobody really feels comfortable doing it.
  3. Here's to squeeze plays folks. Among the more neglected plays in baseball.
  4. "Doesn't he remind you a little bit of Lenny Dykstra? Just doesn't have the tobacco juice dripping down his chin." — Gary Cohen, just now. The cat is out of the bag.
  5. McLean has an average of 0.7 homeruns allowed per nine innings over his brief career. The league average over that period is 1.1.
  6. In my defense, was distracted by a dog when I wrote otherwise.
  7. After using their top relievers in a 10th inning game, it would be nice to see the Mets ride this low pitch count of McLean's as far as they can.
  8. Cleon remembers right! He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Willie's debut.
  9. And the Mets capitalize. Also, that railing continues to be an awful impediment.
  10. That last shot is conclusive, but the booth saw it different?
  11. Tough call. I think he got in there but the evidence is inconclusive.
  12. I can't speak to feelings. Data is more helpful. Meanwhile, A.J. Ewing is allowed to homer.
  13. Gets an MLB salary just for being on the 40. Those shelves aren't going to stock themselves, of course.
  14. And per me. Hayden Senger also making his 2026 debut. 15. Playing baseball. I'm not sure I understand the question.
  16. Yabbut, still a rookie. I don't think the all-rookie lineup is coming any time soon, though. They might have been able to field one if they hadn't traded off so much ripe talent at the deadline and the off-season, though. The odd thing is that while it was a rookie-driving-in-a-rookie game-winning RBI, Ewing contributed close to nothing. He struck out looking to end the ninth, was gifted second base by a stupid rule to open the tenth, and scored standing up on a play that would have scored virtually anybody.
  17. He was already kind of being a busybody before that. From that point forward though, he was sort of nutty. Overbearing to cover for himself, which only led to more behavior he had to cover for. C.B. Bucknor can be like that, but because he's such a big athletic guy, he doesn't have the insecurity that makes it snowball. Valentine just lost control of the game by trying to project to everybody how in control of it he was. Weird.
  18. Baby Met goes to the bump tomorrow afternoon looking for the sweep.
  19. Please stop calling backup catchers good bunters.
  20. Also, I don't know why it is a big deal to pitch Raley in consecutive games, but they won't pitch the two previous relievers in consecutive innings.
  21. How pulled in will the Tigers infield be looking for Torrens to bunt with Ewing on second with the winning run?
