  1. Hey, I'm just saying it's tough. Advocating for more runs more than more Peterson. Keith Radd just described Ewing getting thrown out by a throw to the "second-base side of the bag." The bag was second base.
  2. Going to the pen for 12 outs with a one-run lead against this lineup is a tough needle to thread.
  3. Marcus Semien challenging a ball pretty much right down the pipe.
  4. Two-run single in the biggest at-bat of any year.
  5. Bases loaded and one out for Bichette at the plate. Biggest at-bat of the year. Any year, really.
  6. Nope, no opener. I assume that's in part because the Nats have several lefties that play every day, so there is no upside of knocking platoonists out of the lineup. Also, speaking of platoonists, it looks like the Mets aren't going to be using 'Bito against righties for the time being. METS Starting Pitcher: David Peterson LHP 2-4, 5.40 ERA Lineup: Carson Benge (L) RF Bo Bichette (R) SS Juan Soto (L) LF Mark Vientos (R) 1B Brett Baty (L) 3B Marcus Semien (R) 2B A.J. Ewing (L) CF MJ Melendez (L) DH Luis Torrens (R) C WASHINGTON Starting Pitcher: Cade Cavalli RHP 2-2, 4.05 ERA, 52 SO Lineup: James Wood (L) LF Curtis Mead (R) 3B Andrés Chaparro (R) 1B CJ Abrams (L) SS Dylan Crews (R) RF Daylen Lile (L) DH Jacob Young (R) CF Nasim Nuñez (S) 2B Keibert Ruiz (S) C
  7. And they put Morabito's face on the story, like he did anything wrong to put himself in the crosshairs. The crosshairs of "outrage."
  8. I'm sure someone did, but in both cases, explicit permission from Mays was solicited and received.
  9. I would suggest that it was less than a fiasco, but certainly a blunder. I think it's important that the Carter and Mays cases be held as distinct from one another.
  10. Two games in a row. I would not conclude much from it. And the good — it was longer than a week.
  11. Frank Howard fans on Twitter are going to be pissed.
  12. Well, that homer after walking up to "Forever Young" is insult and injury.
  13. Juan Soto is decorating the Washington night sky. I'm certain that the Mets can finish over .500.
  14. On seeing that Baty walk, it's worth noting that the Mets didn't walk at all last night. But a visit from The Dark Fairy of Grounding into Double Plays ends that.
  15. Austin Warren + Carson Benge + Hayden Senger = OUT!! Now is the PERFECT time for a Peerless Broiler!
  16. Mets pumping the breaks on that all-rookie outfield, but the rookie starting pitcher is a go. METS Starting Pitcher: Zach Thornton LHP 0-0, -.-- ERA Lineup Carson Benge (L) RF Bo Bichette (R) SS Juan Soto (L) LF Mark Vientos (R) 1B MJ Melendez (L) DH Brett Baty (L) 3B Marcus Semien (R) 2B A.J. Ewing (L) CF Hayden Senger (R) C WASHINGTON Starting Pitcher: Zack Littell RHP 2-4, 6.10 ERA Lineup James Wood (L) DH Curtis Mead (R) 3B Andrés Chaparro (R) 1B CJ Abrams (L) SS Dylan Crews (R) RF Daylen Lile (L) LF Jacob Young (R) CF Nasim Nuñez (S) 2B Keibert Ruiz (S) C
  17. And I thought I was mostly just being a jerk.
  18. Gonzaga High School's own Nick Morabito debuting in his home town.
  19. He looked like such and intelligent young man who'd want to buy an eight. I blame Puma and Howie Rose. They should have kept their cool.
  20. The best part is that it is happening near the start of a road trip. If they sprung it on people at a home game, the toilets would clog from all the 60-year-old white guys taking angry shits, and they might take it out on the player. Here, it happens on the road, and hopefully by the time the team gets back home, he has a handful of games under his belt, maybe a few hits, and maybe a stolen base or two. Howie Rose won't even be calling the game to make a note of it and the Mets' other two radio broadcasters are too young to even remember Carter. It would have been easier if they stuck it on the back of an Austin Slater or Andy Ibáñez first, though.
  21. Holy shit! Just like that!
