  1. 7:15 on FOX Julio Teheran vs Jacob deGrom We haven't seen Teheran since way back on Sunday when he was one-hitting our sorry asses. deGrom was the mound opponent that day also and he was OK--5 innings, 3 runs, 5 hits--before the bullpen, Bastardo & Robles, served the Braves up another 3 runs in what became probably the least competitive game we've played all year. So today almost certainly has to go better than that as we strive for a whopping two wins in a row and control of the season series with the sorry-ass Bravos (currently 6-5 in favor of the Mets) Both teams used 4-2/3 innings worth of relief pitching last night so will be looking for some length from their starters.
  2. The NFL [u:28bv47l8]Claims[/u:28bv47l8] to have a domestic abuse policy, one that they cobbled together following their complete clusterfuck handling of the Ray Rice "incident", an incident they knew about and then only acted on once both halves of the video became public.
  3. Here's a stupid question: if you're the Braves on that final play of the game, why the fuck are you bothering to to check with your video guy before you decide to challenge the play? IT'S THE LAST FREAKIN' OUT OF THE GAME, what are you going to do, SAVE IT for another time?!?
  4. Marlins just lost so we're back in 2nd. Nationals losing in Milwaukee 5-3 in the 7th so there's hope there. No hope for Triple Happiness because the Yanx played the Twins today and Minnesota beats the Yanx once every third solar eclipse.
  5. Only James Loney kjq4wYuwgxs
  6. He had BOTH feet on the bag!!
  7. Wilmer being a klutz just may have won us the game.

  9. One [u:ej9fkjhr]Hit[/u:ej9fkjhr] thru 3-2/3 against the Braves pen tonight. Nothing like leaving as small a margin for error as possible.
  10. Do we have like any runs against the Braves pen this year? I'm sure there were one or two tallied earlier in the season at some point, but I sure don't remember any. After some quick detective work: 5 runs off the Atlanta bullpen in 28-2/3 innings this season coming into tonight (so now 5 in 29-2/3) and 3 of them were unneeded 9th inning tack-on runs in the second game of the season. That (1.51 ERA) is pitiful against ANY bullpen much less off the worst team in baseball who don't even have Kimbrel anymore.

  12. Big thank you to Hansel. An eight-run lead and Matz actually winds up with the same innings pitched (4.1) as Blair.
  13. Ummm, getting an out sometime soon might be nice. Starting to look like we might need every one of those eight runs ... and maybe more.

I don't think there were any 'reports' issued other than Cespedes being listed as 'day to day' since he left the game on Wednesday, and I was thinking that maybe Conforto's knee-bang into the wall yesterday might stiffen up on him overnight.
  15. One thing that's disturbing about Conforto's slump is how many of his strikeouts come on three pitches. Both K's tonight and it seems too many of them in general.
  16. Down 8-0, Atlanta votes in favor of Blexit.
  17. Huh, neither Cespedes nor Conforto in the 'notavailableforthedayclub'. I would have bet on both.

  19. The usual imbalance (if you want to call 12 pitchers/13 position players that - although everyone else does it too) is even more unbalanced now at 13/12 due to needing the pen for 8-2/3 after Colon lasted all of 4 pitches in his last start and that he and Syndergaard are said to be penciled in for their next starts this weekend. But until they feel comfortable writing those in in ink it looks like they intend to keep an extra guy around for protection. The real problem is that, in addition to the assorted broken backs, fused necks, shoulder strains and TJ recoveries that we're waiting out, we continue to have these dinky injuries which may or may not need DL'ing and so it seems that half the nights this year the bench has had a man in limbo who's neither available nor replaced. Cespedes sits in that chair right now but Lagares, Walker, Wright and others have taken turns in that same (non) role.
  20. Mets are 5-5 vs Braves this year, the Nats are 6-0, and that pretty much spells the difference. They've now scored 7 runs against the Braves over the last four games combined. Matz faces Aaron Blair tonight (remember that it's 7:35 on Friday nights in Atlanta for some reason or another) same matchup as last week. That was the game where the Mets got a 3-0 lead on Blair [6 IP, 3 R, 5 H] before Matz, Henderson & Reed combined to allow a 'picket fence' of Atlanta runs in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th while NYM bats were busy doing jack-shit against their pen and then had Wilmer thrown out at home by 27 feet with no outs in the 9th just to make sure of it. Be nice if they made a roster move sometime soon rather than go again with what was essentially a two-man bench last night. I don't particularly care which of the now 13 active pitchers goes and who comes back but, with Cespedes being this week's designated available-but-not player, right now the bench consists of Matt Reynolds plus the backup catcher plus whoever is not playing among Flores or Johnson. Maybe Reyes can learn to play the OF.
  21. When he's healed.

That's not an excuse when you get to 5-5 after starting the season 5-1 And in the five they've lost they've blown leads in three of them and been one-hit in the other two.
  23. Amed Rosario, .309/.359/.442 in St Lucie, is on his way to Binghamton
  24. Edgy MD wrote: Edgy MD wrote: I can't call this one. The point of contact is too blurry on the replays I'm getting, but I'm guessing it gets overturned. But the 'I can't tell' response is exactly why it shouldn't be overturned. No need to get all Thomas Paine-y on me. I'm aware of the rule. The guess that it was going to get overturned was logical because since the introduction of replay it seems that too many folks weren't aware of the 'clear and convincing' evidence part of the equation. Like I said, that seems to have been getting better lately (by chance or by design I'm not sure) but too often they've just been replacing live guesswork with grainy video guesswork. Now all they have to do is actually stick to the policy where one wrong challenge actually means you don't get another and then teams would stop challenging every bang-bang play in the 1st inning knowing that a wrong guess won't come back to bite them.
  25. We can bitch all we want about the depleted lineup but, between the pick-off, the caught stealing, the throw-out at home, and the Braves only coming to bat 8 times, Met pitchers retired just 21 of the 34 hitters they faced tonight and that's simply not good enough. And, yeah, there were some seeing eye hits early on, but there were also a bunch of loud outs. Now 5-5 with the Braves on the year.
