  1. Was, at the end of the 1965 & '66 seasons, the top-rated Met ever in the CPF Ranking Project (or would have been through the magic of retrospective reconstruction). Currently hanging in at #83 all time, he sits behind only Ron Hunt & Jack Fisher (#'s 74 & 75) among players whose NYM careers pre-date the 1969 era. His August 1963 cycle came in order (first single, then double, etc.) which should get you extra credit although I'm not sure what exactly that credit would be.

Expect a previously unscheduled solar eclipse later today. By my count that's a 24-54 record for the Twins vs the Yanx over the last ten years, and even that doesn't include their 2-12 tally during 4 separate post-season series.
  3. This game was moving far too quickly (7-1/2 innings in under 2 hours) so Antonio Bastardo was brought in to remedy that.

  5. Norris out. Well at least we've hit the Braves bullpen well ... oh wait!
  6. Getting skunked by Julio Teheran is one thing (even if it's twice in a row) but when essentially the same results come against the likes of Wisler & Norris it's not so easily dismissed. 4 hits (all singles) and 8 K's on 88 pitches for Norris so far, and most of the rest of the outs haven't left he infield.
  7. And a cool 0-for-7 w/RiSP Arnold Rothstein wouldn't fix things to be as bad as the Mets have been in those situations this year for fear of giving away the con.
  8. Wasn't expecting Nimmo in RF as his arm is described as nothing special. On the other hand it's likely a better arm than the one belonging to the incumbent, so why not.
  9. Scouting Report
  10. 1:35 PM - WPIX or Fox Sports South Bartolo Colon vs David Stefan 'Bud' Norris [2-7; 4.69; 1.45; 21 Games, 9 Starts] We didn't see Norris is that ugly series last week but did face him three times in the first 5 weeks of the season. Met bats smacked him around in a game he started on April 22nd [5 ER in 4 IP] but he fared well in two separate relief outings: 2-1/3 innings each on May 2nd & 4th, one hit + two walks allowed in total. The lineup is expected to be Nimmo-fied and hopefully he will help us in this war and in all the wars still to come.
  11. That's a pretty good line.
  12. Besides, it makes him sound like the long-lost sixth Marx brother.
  13. Centerfield wrote: Soul crushing double play! Four of them tonight. The difference with that last one is that Familia is as likely to screw it up as not. The Walker/Cabrera ones I'm not so worried about.
  14. Wait a minute, the batter was only out by six strides at 1st so the Braves may want to have the play reviewed.
  15. If MLB is serious about speeding up the game they should just pass a rule where all Braves plays at 1st get automatically reviewed.

  17. Extra innings is going to screw up the timing of the Flo Rida concert scheduled for after the game. What will they do?
  18. Well the good news is we got rid of Teheran. The bad is that we can't hit the Atlanta pen either (5 runs against in the last 30-some innings - all of them back in April)
  19. soupcan wrote: Is this Verducci doing the Fran Healy impersonation tonight? (And by 'Fran Healy impersonation' I mean 'excruciatingly bad color job') Verducci is occasionally taking a breath between comments, something Healy never did. Fran's commentary was one long sentence from the 1st inning to the 9th that I'm not even sure stopped during commercial breaks.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: is it me or has dArnaud changed his stance again? He's definitely got less of that bat-wrap than he did pre-DL
  21. Teixeira returns from the DL so Ike gets DFA'd by the Yanx after 14 ABs (3 singles)
  22. G-Fafif wrote: Officially signed to minor league deal. Goes to Brooklyn tomorrow. The 'Pons know how to milk a low-level signing.
  23. Even though we lost that challenge at 2nd base we still get five more tonight, right? That certainly seems to be how things have been working lately.
  24. Conforto is too talented to not get his shit straightened out and work his way back, but this is the right move IMO. Nimmo expected to be in Atlanta and start in LF tonight according to a report from the Wyoming Tribune - and if you can't trust them as a source ....
