  1. That photo was many tattoos and spinal problems ago.
  2. Made him look much more Rodney Allen Rippy [fimg=200:180uysll]http://www.nndb.com/people/864/000025789/rodney-1972-sm.jpg[/fimg:180uysll] than James Rodney Richards [fimg=169:180uysll]http://www.astrosdaily.com/files/team/richard/01richard.jpg[/fimg:180uysll]
  3. While it's increasingly likely that De Aza won't end the month of July as a Met, even the rumored use of JoseJose (plus Kelly Johnson) as a part-time outfielder doesn't mean they have a plane ticket outta town with ADA's name on it quite yet and therefore Reynolds is the odd man out here.
  4. I'm all for Travis in #8, I said so last week and I'm pretty sure I also said as much back when he first came up.

  6. Chen was smacked around in his June starts by such powerhouses as the Twins, Padres, Rockies, and Braves to the tune of 19 runs on 31 Hits over 18 innings - with only a good starts vs the Cubs of all teams mixed in between. I suspect we could see a Reyes at 3rd / Flores at 1st deal, keeping Wilmer's hot bat in while giving Loney the night off vs the lefty
  7. Firecrackers are Happy!! Mets 8 - Marlins 6 Brewers 1 - Nationals 0 ChiSox 8 - Yanquis 2
  8. Lefty Specialist wrote: Matt Harvey owes this whole team a steak dinner. I feel like he owes me one too. Y'know, as weird of a game as this was for NYM bats, it was at least as bad for the Marlins who someone managed to get 'only' six runs while grinding out 17 hits - which is pretty poor when you consider that we handed them at least half of those six runs with errors (only one officially) and some all-around sloppy play. The key was 15 of those 17 being singles, only drawing two walks, plus two GiDPs (the first two outs of the game and the last two) and a really poorly-timed bunt-into-DP. So as much as the Mets sometimes suffer for their over-reliance on HRs, there's a reason why BA correlates less well to scoring runs than does OBA or SLG or OPS.
  9. Hopefully there will be others, but this might be the best win of the year.

There's one. Sometimes one is all you need (and all you get).

  12. We're into NFL territory now with 'What's a Catch?' and 'Did it Move?' questions?
  13. All NYM pitchers named 'Not Matt Harvey' have been great today.
  14. So what's suddenly gotten into Fernando Rodney (and are they testing for it) at the age of 39? Dumped at the deadline by the Mariners last year while sporting an ERA near 6, he pitched reasonably well for the Cubs down the stretch although over just 12 innings. But this season, after being signed to a one-year deal on the cheap by the Padres, he's allowed just 2 runs (1 earned) on 13 hits all season across 30.2 innings (28.2 w/SD + 2.0 w/Miami). That's a ridiculous 0.29 ERA. Now he'll walk his share (13 in those 30+ IP) but has obviously figured out a way to work around that so far even if he's yet to figure out how to wear his hat straight.
  15. Nice play by Keith Loney. BIFL!!
  16. I hear all this about 'professional ABs' that Gary & Ron are talking about, and I know it might seem a bit picky to complain after tying up a game they once trailed by 6-0, but an actual hit with runners in scoring position might be nice every once in a while. 4 of the 6 runs have scored via outs or should-have-been outs and Flores's Sac Fly was the first time they got a ball out of the infield with RiSP despite having runners all over the place today.
  17. We need someone here to say 'Good Evening' to Mr. Phelps. Pitching coach Juan Nieves out to chat. You're a bastard Juan Nieves!!
  18. So I reckon we're going to see first Rodney in the 8th and then Ramos. oe: Oh yeah, forgot we were still only in the 7th (see below). Perhaps the singing should have been a clue.
  19. Inning 6 -- Bases Loaded / No one Out: Infield Grounder (scored a hit, should have been an FC) - Infield Grounder (GiDP) - Infield Bouncer (inning over) That they actually were able to get two runs out of it was as much luck as anything. You wouldn't think an entire group could TRY to be that pathetic and be able to pull it off as regularly as this team has this year.
  20. 2nd inning with two outs - two runners on 3rd inning with two outs - bases loaded 4th inning with two outs - bases empty Guess when the HR showed up?
  21. 11 hits vs retiring only 9 batters (got 2 other outs on the bases). But in addition to that, NO ONE on this team has made a good throw this entire game: not Granderson, not Nimmo, not d'Arnaud, not Harvey even when not throwing a pitch, and not Cespedes right there.
  22. And, once again, even our hits w/RiSP don't score any actual runners (although they would have had Granderson run like Ronnie said) which inevitably leads to the bases-loaded pop-out.
  23. bmfc1 wrote: I love replay because umps suck and are a blight on the game but replay on tag plays should be stopped. If the cameras can overrule the ump standing right frigging there than eliminate the ump and use the cameras all the time. Trying to insert replay technology into calls but yet attempting to keep it limited has long been the blight on the whole idea. The NFL is now, what?, 35 years into their use of it and their response to all its problems continues to be, 'oh we just have to tweak it a bit and then it'll be fine'.
  24. Lefty Specialist wrote: I'm sorry but Harvey just didn't man up here. This inning is ridiculous. Obviously Nimmo's bad throw (and Granderson's non-throws) contributed to that inning, but maybe Harvey can try NOT giving up hits to 6 of the first 10 he faces. ** and now 7 of the first 12
  25. Junior Guerra (does that translate into 'Little War'?) and the Brewers shutout the Nats & Max Scherzer 1-0 on 3 hits to kick off the fireworks today - so that's like found money. Martin Maldonato's 5th inning HR accounted for the lone run. Guerra is a converted catcher making just his 12th ML start at the age of 31. Start #8 was against us earlier in the year which the Mets won although only 2-1
