  1. Boy, I'd hit for Lester here if I were the Nats
  2. Yeah, even though the call that got the Mets upset was bad, to look at it in isolation is misleading.

Is it a strike if any part of the ball is touching the border of the plane of the strike zone? Is it only a strike if the greater part of the ball is within the border (or, similarly, if the dead center point is across the line)? Is it only a strike if the totality of the ball is within the border? I've always known the rule as #1
  5. btw, twas disturbing to hear Gary say last night -- Several Times! -- how much he likes the 7-inning DH's Keith you more or less expect it from.

  7. Pitt wins 11-10 seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" strand the tying & go-ahead runners on in the 9th

  9. Not often that you get T. Turner both on a GiDP and a K/WP in the same game.
  10. Four hits in the last two games/16 innings
  11. Good decision by Dom to be left-handed there.
  12. Keith was just talking about how the Pirates were going to break their losing streak since they were up 11-1 vs Cleveland ... and now it's 11-7
  13. The pitcher and the PC were just on the same bench together for some 10 straight minutes. So after five pitches they need to hold the game up for an on-field conference?!?!?
  14. He got three extra hitters ... and he retired one of them.

  17. The thing is, these 7 inning games, along with declaring extra-innings to now be illegal, give teams even more of an incentive to schedule split DH's since they can slate the start times closer together. Only five hours separate first pitch of Games 1 & 2 tomorrow. With 9 innings and the mere threat of Xtras, they'd be taking a huge risk trying to schedule that close and still give themselves time to clear, clean, then refill the house.
  18. While we're dealing with regular and make-up games with the Nats: - the Braves are hosting the Cards in a four game set which will include the SNB game: Braves won the opener on Thursday - the Marlins are in Wrigley for the weekend - Phils are at the Giants for a late one tonight, then afternoon games on Sat & Sun
  19. Back to the topic at hand for a moment: the team being under 85% immunized is also a factor in keeping the broadcast teams working remotely rather than traveling with the clubs.
  20. Kimbrel is only 33 y/o which is strange considering that this has got to be at least his 22nd year in the league.
  21. Gonna have to do it against Kimbrel
  22. Did Gary just say that Mrs. Met was blowing Mr Met's trumpet?
  23. The Jays, who managed to fuck up their game vs the Yanx last night despite having the tying and winning runs on 2nd & 3rd in the home 9th, just ran themselves into a 2nd inning Little League triple play on a Vladdy Jr grounder, again starting in a situation with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Running the bases that incompetently almost requires a pre-game strategy to do so.
  24. As dynamic as Baez can be both with the bat and the glove, who's going to give him the big contract while he's carrying a .269 OBA?
