  1. Not so Yennseley done that time. And when you consider that we haven't scored more than three runs in like 20 straight games now (number might not be entirely accurate) we're in deep doo-doo here (or is it deep du-du?) We also don't have, y'know, one of those hit things yet
  2. The escape that inning was very Yennsely done.
  3. The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Not a definitive answer, but a quickie search took me to Luke Sewell who spent 20 seasons in the big leagues almost exclusively as a catcher. Born Jan 5, 1901, Sewell made his ML debut on June 30, 1921, right about two months older than Wander Franco is now. Sewell's brothers Tommy & Joe also played in MLB as did their cousin Rip, but none were as young as Luke.
  5. Maybe. But I also remember when it was decided that if you pronounced it HAR-ass-ment instead of ha-RASS-ment (or maybe it was the other way around) it meant that you were a disgusting, sexist pig.
  6. He's a Twenty-first Century Ray He's a ... Top SS prospect Wander Franco -- #1 across the board in both pre-2020 & pre-2021 -- will make his ML debut tonight for Tampa Bay against Boston. So what's so significant? DOB: 3/1/2001, making him the first ML'er to be born in the 21st century. Someone (probably Kurkjian) has already gone back and figured out who the initial 20th century guy was.
  7. Not until this story did I realize that it's spelled Du-Rag rather than Doo-Rag That probably makes me a racist.

  9. Edgy MD wrote: Eickhoff is living pretty well right now. Especially when you consider that it took him 107 pitches just to get through the 1st inning.
  10. Ian Anderson is a snake when he disagrees with his catcher.
  11. Lefty Specialist wrote: Boy, Acuna has a friggin gun for an arm. Yeah, although a) he was shallow and coming in by the time he released his throw and it was a dumb attempt by Alonso
  12. His jewelry brings to mind a boat anchor.
  13. Nice win ... but it was also the shoulda win game w/JdG vs rookie. Game 2 figures to be more of a toss up and it will make or break the DH
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Not sure why McCann and not Guillorme went up to pinch-hit there, unless he's coming into the game anyhow. McCann was already in the game. Nido was pulled after running the bases.
  15. Not a good inning by Lugo obviously but still a two run lead and the bottom of the Atlanta lineup in the 7th Keep those early hitters off the base paths and it never gets back around to Acuna (5th batter in line)
  16. Hey Frankie L., wanna make some friends?
  17. OK now we may have to contact the Buffalo's agent.
  18. That OF goof was all part of the plan to make the Braves spend Sandoval before reaching the final innings.
  19. They at least had enough archival footage to keep it from being told totally from Barry's perspective. Most of it was, just not all.
  20. The Yanx turned their second triple play of the week and their third this season. Two of the TP's, including today's, have been game-ending. Chapman walked the first two hitters on a total of 9 pitches, then was shaking hands one pitch later. Talk about falling up!
  21. No way on Buffalo II Not over Nido, or over anyone else i can think of for that matter.
  22. We needed to pitch to Schwarber less and hit it to him more.
  23. Pete is looking very lunge-y lately.
  24. Not saying that any bad calls are OK, just that you can't hang the cause of the loss on one pitch particularly when an earlier pitch in the same AB was likely wrong the other way so if we're going to wave a wand and correct all the calls Soto might have walked before even getting to that point.
