  1. A most disappointing pair of ABs by Lindor and Alonso
  2. Edgy MD wrote: Leadoff double for Villar. LET'S SEE THE BULLPEN! If it's a day ending with "y", Villar makes an out on the basepaths. SNY absolves him. In this case Gary and Keith were right. His only other option was to try and return to 2nd but if he does that he likely runs the team into a DP
  3. We have far too many hard hit balls through five innings to only have two runs, and yet in some ways we're lucky to even have the two.
  4. So far, so good on the pitching to Soto front.
  5. Until just mentioned by Gary a minute ago, I hadn't thought about David Peterson on maybe two months.
  6. Five players drafted from Seaford HS: in 1965, 1967, 1969, 1970, and then this Nolin guy in 2008 What were that town feeding those guys back in the late '60s?
  7. That's why you don't swing at borderline 3-0 pitches while leading off an inning, Pete.
  8. He's been 'socially isolating' with those brooms there for quite some time ... if you get my drift.
  9. Five out of the last six since the whole west-coast-teams debacle was nice but at the same time was virtually necessary and it remains necessary that we keep up something resembling that pace over this eight game WAS (5) / MIA (3) road swing. Winning 'only' five here probably isn't good enough, especially as it's followed by a NYY - StL - PHI - BOS (2) - MIL 14-game stretch.
  10. I'd argue the opposite: pitch TO someone unless forced to do otherwise. Avoid someone if the situation calls for it but preemptively granting anyone a 1.000 OBA and then trying to figure out a way to get him out with the sacks full and you can't walk him is a formula for losing baseball.
  11. [FIMG=300]https://www.emmys.com/sites/default/files/styles/bio_pics_detail/public/bios/jackie-gleason-photofest-450x600.jpg?itok=ipoXK7vF[/FIMG] HOW SWEEP IT IS!!
  12. It's Jupiter, Keith, because you can see three of its primary moons.
  13. Gotta figure that this Bender guy's has a good curve, no?
  14. TWiB Notes regrets failing to mention the Baltimore @ Toronto game from Wednesday night Matt Harvey: 4 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 0 K vs Steven Matz: 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 5 K Neither figured in the decision as the Jays won 5-4 on a tie-breaking run in the 8th
  15. Bleier not rocky enough.
  16. in the early days of the 'must slide' rule at home, Mazeika could have been called safe there based on the catcher not giving him enough of a lane.
  17. Would you have preferred he stick with Carrasco there (following Hit - K - Walk)?
  18. Loup, here he is Loup, here he is
  19. The broadcast is scheduled for 10:00 - 11:00 but it's following a live game and since we know that the odds of a 7 PM game being over by 10 is about 1-in-50 these days,, those setting your DVRs should make sure to record an extra hour or more so it doesn't get cut off mid-stream.
  20. Marlins were a double short of a cycle.
  21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: That's more than a hand! That's a full deck! Let's hope he's really dealing out there. (now there's another bygone baseball saying: a pitcher pitching well was "really dealing")
  22. Hand & Bauer, two of the more talked about potential signings last winter, both wound up being bullets-dodged cases when they weren't signed - albeit for different reasons.
  23. A. Rodriguez -- (Drafted #1 in 1993) 696 HRs / 2,086 RBI D. Strawberry -- (1980) 335 / 1,000 A. Gonzalez -- (2000) 317 / 1,202 K. Griffey -- (1987) 630 / 1,836 C. Jones -- (1990) 468 / 1,623 J. Upton -- the most recent member of the club and the one who triggered the kwiz (2005) 324 / 1,000 H. Baines -- (1977) 384 / 1,628, the earliest member of the club
  24. ARod -- (1993) 696 / 2,086 D. Strawberry -- (1980) 335 / 1,000 A. Gonzalez -- (2000) 317 / 1,202 K. Griffey -- (1987) 630 / 1,836
  25. Exactly 1K RBI for the Straw man ARod -- (1993) 696 / 2,086 D. Strawberry -- (1980) 335 / 1,000
