  1. Jeter, in conjunction with MLB, is taking bids for game-used memorabilia as well as offering other for-purchase merchandise. Not sure if there were come-ons for this stuff interjected into his speech.
  2. So with Jazz and Pop already in the game tonight, the Marlins now add a Bass to the mix. Where are John Rocker and Rich Folkers?
  3. The Mets have 13 hits thru the first 24 innings in this series.
  4. Stroman seems like he should be a better hitter than he actually is.

  6. My point was that he seemed to pull up at the end and played it off the wall as if by instinct and then, after getting the carom, immediately realized that of course he had no play. I don't think he could have caught that ball no matter what he did, but he had this kind of 'Oh shit' body language as he turned as he realized that his instincts didn't serve him well there.
  7. I don't think he quit so much as reverted to instinct. Realizing he wasn't going to catch up to it he set himself up for the best rebound only to belatedly remember that a quick relay in wasn't going to do him any good.
  8. The (non) move bugged me too, although not as much as 4 hits (over 10 innings) and 15 Ks while failing to get our own Manfred Man runner in.
  9. It's unlikely (has been for weeks) but I'm hanging in. And the Yanx have lost five including two of three to Baltimore (who were mathematically eliminated from the AL East on Mother's Day) so I ain't going cowering in fear at the sight of pinstripes.
  10. Aaaaaaand another one run loss

  13. THAT'S A FAIR BALL!!!!! Don't think it'll be overturned though.
  14. The first walk was understandable. Not the second one
  15. Don't like how this is shaping up.
  16. Chad ochoseis wrote: 2 hours and we're in the 9th. Can't remember the last time I've seen that happen. This was a 6:40 start so it's more like 2:30 to this point, but your point still works. The Yanx/Jays, meanwhile, are 2 hours+ into their game and are in the top of the 5th. NYY starter Luis Gil took 91 pitches just to get thru 3.1 innings, walking 7 in the process. 3-0 Jays bottom 5
  17. Down 1-0 end of 6th At this time last night I think we were still in the 3rd inning
  18. Stealing with two out and Pete at the plate??
  19. The division races in the AL are essentially over. TBR boasts a 9.5 game lead on the Yanx CHW up 11 full ones on the .500 [CROSSOUT]Indians[/CROSSOUT] Guardians and while I suppose Houston could still conceivably blow their lead, they're still up by 6.5 and it's not even over the A's anymore as the Mariners have snuck into 2nd So the WC race is where all the action is going to be as five fight for two spots. The Yanx are +0.5 on the BoSox but the Blue Jays are suddenly riding a six-game streak (last two over NYY, 3rd coming up tonight) and sit just 2.0 G back of Boston. Then at 3.0 & 3.5 back it's Seattle and Oakland. So the assumption (or the 'Prayer' as they call it in TV land) that the WC card will be just MFY & BOS battling for home field in the one-game play-in game is far from certain. Be great to have a whole mash-up going into the final week ... especially since the division races will almost certainly be a yawn-fest down the stretch.
  20. One would think Jeter would have shaved for the occasion.
  21. Blergh. The Mets are now on Sunday Night Baseball the following two Sundays (9/12 and 9/19) so if you want to bring your kiddies to Citi Field, it's now a night game on a school night. Add in the 9/18 game moving to FOX and we now have lost 3 GKR games in the next two weeks. https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2021/09/espn-sunday-night-baseball-schedule-update-new-york-mets-host-philadelphia-phillies-on-september-19-in-major-league-baseball-game-of-the-week/https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2021/09/espn-sunday-night-baseball-schedule-update-new-york-mets-host-philadelphia-phillies-on-september-19-in-major-league-baseball-game-of-the-week/ But wait, it gets better (worse). The FOX Saturday game is a 7:40 start rather than 7:10. And while I'm sure that is going to be attributed to pre-game ceremonies, FOX's college football sked is the more likely culprit. Texas A&M vs Colorado scheduled to end at 7:00 (it won't) ... now who in this nation doesn't Need to see that? And pro football shoves ESPN's SNB to the 8PM EDT slot, meaning 8:08 first pitch (assuming things run on time) but at least these are Yanqui games so we know they'll be played quicker than most. Mmmmmm, later starts AND extra commercial time mixed in. I'm guessing 10:40, 11:15, and just prior to midnight for the final out in each ... unless there's extra innings involved.
  22. Hill was more than decent last time around, but he also has socks older than Alcantara and this is one where the pitching matchup is decidedly against us. At least on paper it is although, last time I checked anyway, they'll not be playing tonight's game on paper.
  23. So, whatta ya figure, this game is 60% in the bag at this point? 70?
