  1. Monday's slate of games Brewers @ Braves -- 1:07 First Pitch, TBS Astros @ White Sox -- 3:37, FS1 Rays @ Red Sox -- 7:07, FS1 Giants @ Dodgers* -- 9:37, TBS Each of the games is almost certain to overlap with the preceding/following one * aka, the series no one in this half of the country will see even as it involves the year's two best teams
  2. 5:14 (13 innings although it was already closing in on 4:00 by the time they were finished with 9) & 4:27 Y'know, if this trend continues it might really start to become a problem for the sport.
  3. Even wackier (non) call in CHW/HOU game. 1st & 3rd, bouncer to 1st, throw home hits the batter/runner in the shoulder while he's several feet in fair territory inside the line. Run scores, everyone safe, Sox now up 9-6 in a game where they trailed 6-1 about an inning (and 90 minutes) ago. Apparently that run inside the 'lane' to 1st applies only if the play is at 1st. But this one was at home and so his running lane is whatever he establishes it as so it's a live ball even after it deflects off of him.
  4. HOU v CHW now tied at 6 They're also at the two hour mark and in the top of the 4th
  5. Wondering if there's any leeway for the umps to make a different ruling if, in their judgement, the fielder intentionally deflects the ball over the wall so as to make it a GR-2B thus preventing a runner from scoring? I don't believe that Renfroe did do that here, just a what-if kind of thing.
  6. I'm pulling for the Brews & Giants, and, to a lesser extent, ChiSox & Rays. But not all that passionately in any of those cases. My one rooting interesting this year's post-season ended with the very first game played (AL WC).
  7. Jack Webb could put them all behind bars.
  8. Oh I know why it's the case. I'd just be sick of it if I were them, knowing that the networks automatically assigns you the least desirable time slots every single year unless you happen to be matched up against the Yanx or Sox at which point you become the party of the other part. The Braves get it too. Francesa used to argue that the three worst pro sports cities in the country were Atlanta, Miami, and Houston, and he was probably right about that (he had to be occasionally right about something!) Astros/ChiSox - 2:00 today MLBN Braves & Brewers - 4:30 TBS
  9. That's the first one that fell uncaught, but OF'ers have lost four or five fly balls tonight plus there's already been a HR off one of the catwalk 'rings, The stadium suxx
  10. TBR's Randy Arozarena picking up where he left off in last year's post-season. Tonight he has a long HR plus just now a straight steal of home. 5-0 Rays after 7

  12. Kind of rules out the Brian Schneider for next manager prediction.
  13. Astros fans must be sick of always getting the opening [read: loser] time slot. Six times in the playoffs in the last seven seasons; twice in the WS, once a winner. But consistently relegated to the mid-week, 3PM (local) time slot while the coastal cities get all the prime time glory. If they were in the NFL the league would make them play in London.
  14. Yeah but look at him now. Both his face and his body resemble a tuber.
  15. Yeah, somehow these clowns managed to turn a 1-1 (until the final pitch) game into a 4:15 affair, an hour longer than the Yanx/Sawx from the previous night. The gap between the final pitch of top 9 and the first pitch in bottom 9 was over 5-1/2 minutes as StL decided, after their pitcher was warmed up, that they needed a new pitcher when LAD announced a PH, so now the new guy had to be given time to trot in then warm up. I fell asleep on the couch but then happened to wake up just in time for the GW HR
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Joe West Sucks sucks! Yeah, I just got around to watching the first few minutes of that and I saw nothing that made him look bad at all. Hell, we need MORE of the part where he started calling strikes on Raul Mondesi when he was slow to get to the plate.
  17. I may have mentioned this before, but my total non-bb-fan bro-in-law somehow just recently stumbled upon a YT video dedicated to Joe West which he devoured simply because he knew, or at least knew of, Joe West from back when they went to the same HS. West is a few years older but B-i-L knew all about him because West was the town's star athlete and few things get you more notice in the south (eastern NC) than being the star QB
  18. 4 minutes 10 seconds between the last pitch Scherzer threw and the first one his replacement Kelly threw. Good thing we figured out how to save 8 seconds by going to the automatic intentional walk because there's clearly no other ways to cut time in this game.
  19. This game is turning out to be going at a MUCH slower pace than last night's contest. Lots o' pitches for both aces.
  20. =Fman99 post_id=79431 time=1633570735 user_id=86] I think it's stupid that the WC winner automatically becomes the #4 seed. They should seed the ALDS and NLDS based on regular season reacords.
  21. Two leadoff/2nd place hitting short stops Trea Turner: 68 (reg season) ABs w/bases loaded, 5 GS Derek Jeter: 262 ABs w/bases loaded, 1 GS Jus' sayin'
  22. When do you suppose the last time was that a .165 hitter got as many as 350 ABs -- as Bellinger did this year?
  23. Joe West looks like a baked potato.
  24. The winner of this gets the Giants so the Dodgers advancing gives us a more hate-filled next round ... so I'm pulling for that.
  25. First celebrity in the stands spotting for me, the now 88 y/o music producer Lou Adler
