  1. Interesting move to remove Taillon following yet another weak grounder turned quasi-infield-hit.
  2. Lots of NYM weak grounders tonight.
  3. Vientos is saying 'I woulda gone home!!!'
  4. I was yelling to go home .... not loudly enough obviously.
  5. Less upset about the hit than I am about the fact that it followed a leadoff BB
  6. Pitches thru 7: - Severino = 79 (about 5-1/3 innings worth) - Taillon = 72 (~4-2/3)
  7. Not just rooting for the no-no ... we NEED the no-no!!
  8. Looks like he started on Saturday, but was replaced halfway through the game so I didn't realize it. Prior to that it was Tuesday, the middle game in San Fran which makes it four out of the last five starting assignments for Nido. Poor Narvaez. You sign as a starter but get relegated to backup by a fast rising youngster. But then, when that youngster gets shelved by a long-ish term injury, he still doesn't start in favor of the second backup who couldn't make the team over you.
  9. Three full innings played in slightly over a half hour (approx 34 minutes).
  10. Weak GO by Vientos. Send him down ... what has he done for us lately?!?
  11. I've been away for a couple of days ... what's up with Narvaez?
  12. The RF dimensions/shape got the most attention early on but LF was much worse IMO. Make the wall far OR make it high. They did both. P.S. how many of Pete's HRs would have been swallowed up by early dimensions CitiField (or at least a reasonably accurate estimate) is probably a findable number.
  13. Scoring more than 10 runs in this series (seven in regulation innings) would be a nice idea. Mets out-hit [23 to 19] and out-HR'd [3 - 2] the Cards yet were a strike away from getting swept. Not hitting .118 (4/34) w/RiSP might be an effective way to change that.
  14. Opposing teams should just put NYM runners on intentionally. It automatically lowers our OPS by about 500 points.
  15. Hank Greenberg hit 40 or more HRs three times (topped by a season of 58). But what I didn't know was that he lost almost Four Full Seasons to WWII and therefore finished with only 1,628 hits. It's screwups like this which keep me from finishing 90% of these.
  16. This, btw, reminds me of Art Schallock. Who, you might ask? He was the guy the Yanx brought up when they sent down a struggling 19 y/o by the name of Mantle in mid-1951. Schallock was in the news recently as he turned 100 y/o yesterday (the 25th) making him the oldest living major leaguer.
  17. #1 overall prospect Jackson Holliday was optioned bak to AAA after starting his ML career 2-for-34
  18. btw, anyone catch the consecutive run of Bader, Baty, Nido, Nimmo. All we need now is to tack on an Alfozo, Alonso back-to-back and we'd be all set.
  19. Walk two of the first five hitters and shit's gonna happen.
  20. Pete Crow-Armstrong's first ML hit (he was 0-14 last year and 0-1 this season) ... a 2R HR in what would go on to be a 3-1 Cubs win.
  21. After canceling my three-month trial of Apple TV+ they gave me opportunities to get another three months free which I (belatedly) realized I could have used to catch some Friday Night Baseball early in this season. But I'm going to be out of town this whole weekend anyway so it hardly matters and I wanted to cut ties as soon as possible. So I'll try to catch some via (streaming) radio and hope for the best. Cards (11-14 and coming off their first losing season this century) are sucking so far this season on the offensive side (26th in RS/G) and are only somewhat better on the run preventing end (23rd) Paul Goldschmidt, in particular, is off to a rough start [.200/.294/.278] (are you effin' kidding me?!?), hot 2nd year OF prospect Jordan Walker [497 OPS] has been sent down and their best hitter has been C Willson Contreras but he's been limited to mostly DH Mike Mikolas [rough start] (Fri), Sonny Gray [very good start] (Sat), and Lance Lynn [good] (Sun) are the projected starters.
  22. Hunter Windelstadt apparently got a 'minor discipline' for the Boone ejection. And speaking of the Bronx, I figured the rout was on tonight when the Yanx loaded the bases in the bottom of the 1st vs Oakland ... except they didn't score (K, GiDP). A couple innings later they loaded 'em up with one out ... and yet again failed to score. Your final was A's 3 - Yanx 1 (309 ft solo HR) which gave the A's a split of the four game series. Two wins while in NYC was about three wins more than I thought they'd get.
  23. This is one which, for some reason or another, I never got around to.
