  1. Jackson Kowar in to pitch for Seattle Fun fact: 37% of all major leaguers to debut since 2023 have been named Jackson.
  2. OK, nice bounce back appearances by Raley & Helsley (Garrett not so much). And Helsely's night may not be over.
  3. Not sure if ESPN mentioned it, but: - Torrens in for Alvarez - Baty moves from 2B to 3B (Vientos out) - Luisangel to 2B
  4. I hope Jardiance is a sponsor ... There was just a Jardiance commercial, which I wasn't listening to [#mute button] but one of the disclaimers in the crawl across the bottom of the screen talked about "increased chance of lower limb loss". All other things being equal, I'm opting for a decreased chance of lower limb loss ... but that's just me.
  5. Nice shot Lindy ... you shoulda been on 3rd.
  6. 11 hits (2 2Bs, 1 HR) plus 3 BBs thru (not quite) 5 innings.
  7. Before this inning is over Manaea is going to lead the league in 'Ummms'
  8. Holmes lives to pitch another inning. It's almost certainly his last, but it'd be nice if he manages to finish it strong.
  9. Ravech: Mr. Comissioner, what's the future of the sport's TV contract? Manfred: Well we can't get away from your fucking network fast enough. OK so he didn't actually say that, but he should have.
  10. Hey ESPN, how many plays do you make fans of Monday Night Football miss or see via shrunken screens? Oh none, you say? And why is that?
  11. Holmes should have been out of this with a shutout and a decent pitch count. Now he doesn't have either and the inning is on the verge of blowing up.
  12. This is an interview show with occasional interruptions of baseball. I mean, that's S.O.P. from ESPN, but tonight's version has been kicked into over-drive. On the plus side, this could be the last time the Mets ever appear on the four-letter network. Certainly one of the last times anyway.
  13. Five hits from the first seven batters in the lineup is a nice start. The pick-off/CS didn't help matters. But, even with all their aggressive leads and early jumps, that's only the second time I can remember them getting burned by it (Soto was the other).
  14. 7:45 first pitch?!?!? I didn't give my approval for that!
  15. [FIMG=450]https://onceuponatimeinawestern.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Dustin-Hoffman-as-Little-Big-Man-Cheyenne-warrior-in-Little-Big-Man-1970.jpg[/FIMG]
  16. Down 1-0 going to the 9th, the Brewers get a 2R-HR by Willian Contreras to take a 2-1 lead. But the Reds score in the bottom half to tie it, then win it in B-10 after the Brews failed to score in the top half. And so the Milwaukee winning streak ends at 14 Yanx about to wrap up their sweep of StL (8 - 4, bottom 9)
  17. Cincy, at home, leading Milwaukee 2-1 in top 9th But they were leading 8-1 last night and lost going away so nothing in the bag yet, especially as the Brewers are going for their 14th straight win. And the Brews have the first tow on w/[CROSSOUT]no outs[/CROSSOUT] ... now one out. And the Brewers score the tying run on an error!!!!
  18. Yeah, I can't say I was in favor of the hook either. It seemed like something pre-ordained, like they made up their minds to pull him once the lineup got to the lefty-swinging power bat of Naylor. I wonder whose call that was and how far in advance it was made. In the early days of the two-point conversion there'd be NFL coaches queried after the game about why they did or didn't go for two in a particular situation and the inevitable answer would be something along the lines of 'Because my card said to go for it when we were ahead/behind by X' ... as if every game with the same score was to be treated identically. I'd hate to think of baseball turning to where no leeway is allowed for deviation from a predetermined strategy due to conditions beyond just the raw inning/outs/score data.
  19. =Gwreck post_id=201491 time=1755385953 user_id=56] Wheeler was put on the IL with a blood clot in his upper right arm.
  20. More in portent than the W bigger than 5-1/3 scoreless by the rookie in his ML debut better still than 3-2/3 1R/2H from the pen ... There Were FIVE pitcher assists in the game!!!!!
  21. Naylor kept trying to hit that elusive 3R bases-empty HR
  22. A 14-pitch inning certainly invites sending him out for the 9th.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Bad send, Sarbaugh. Yeah, with one out that wasn't too smart. Lindor wasn't near 3rd when Arozarena fielded the ball.
  24. Needles to say, this would be a really nice spot for Soto to drive in someone other than himself for the first time in .... I dunno, a coupla months?
  25. Edgy MD wrote: They're sticking with Woo through 100 pitches. IT CAN BE DONE! Are you still in Brian Woo? You seem really just a shadow of the game that we once knew? I'm not crazy, I'm not high. You're just an ordinary guy. Does your manager have a clue? Are you with me, Brian?[/i] [media=youtube]ImtdntJQfSs[/media]
