  1. Edgy you make great points and perhaps I am being a bit strict, but I just don't get why a guy like Griffey would not want to be traded to a team with a chance at a WS,isn't that what a great player would want, that chance to win it all,and to not take that chance because he doesn't like the NY "pressure" or whatever it is about this city I think that looks bad on Griffey...
  2. Any player that avoids a situation like Griffey might if he were traded to NY in my mind is not a great player...
  3. I've never understood how any athlete no matter the sport would void a trade to a team that gives him a legitimate shot at winning, any athlete that does that could never be considered among the best to have played his sport,at least not to me.
  4. Willpie-----that's brilliant....very funny.
  5. Kennedy with a no hitter...
  6. Maine 5 LoDuca 2 Ledee 2 Delgado 1
  7. Beltran - 2 Wright - 1
  8. What's with Oakland and the high uniform numbers?..... http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/team/roster_active.jsp?c_id=oak
  9. Relievers (except closers) are probably the easiest for a GM to aquire,I see no reason to go after a Japanese one unless the Mets think he's the best fit for the team, and certainly I don't like the idea of bringing a guy in from Japan in the middle of the season with all the ajustments he would need to make....better to have a full spring training with the team first.
  10. I liked Leiter a lot when he was Mets player, but he drove me fucking crazy with all the 3-2 counts and the animated faces he would make after every close call that went against him...Al throwing a lot of pitches every start was probably annoying to me in 04 because the team sucked..Al throwing 140+ pitches with all his heart in game five of the WS was inspiring.....
  11. Edgy DC wrote: New topic: Matt Bush converting from shortstop to pitcher. Discuss. 5 feet 10,189 pounds and throws 95 m.p.h,hardly the build of a starting pitcher, interesting tidbit in the NYT article about Bush today,if he fails to make the Major Leagues he will become only the third number 1 pick not to make it..Brien Taylor, chosen by the Yankees in 1991; and Steve Chilcott, chosen by the Mets in 1966. The move with Bush is not as desperate as it might seem,he was an ace pitcher in high school with three great pitches...
  12. I'd give them Heilman straight up,then he can be a starting pitcher again.
  13. Instead of Bradley I'd like to see Omar trade for Nady,Pirates are going nowhere, and we know he's a good fit. Nady is a FA after the season.
  14. Yes OO,that's him...didn't Milledge play one year?.....Humber?
  15. Ilike to watch the futures game,a few times it was the first game I got to see some Mets prospects play.....the pitcher that we traded to Florida comes to mind, although I can't remember his name.
  16. Dude like thanks man....
  17. That's good to know Steve.....of course I was taking the piss with you....
  18. For a one year manager Girardi sure is picky ,must be upsetting to others looking to get back in the game that he has turned down two jobs so far.
  19. Have fun Steve...sounds like a good night..... btw, what's a Brit like yourself doing at an Emerald gig?
  20. Willie talked up Manuel the other day for the job. ] Randolph endorses Manuel: Mets manager Willie Randolph hopes the Baltimore Orioles will contact bench coach Jerry Manuel for their vacant managerial opening created by yesterday's firing of Sam Perlozzo, a former Mets coach under Davey Johnson. "He deserves to manage in the major leagues," Randolph said. "Baltimore would be smart to call him." Manuel managed the Chicago White Sox from 1998-2003.
  21. His wiki page needs updating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Bradley
  22. I'd do it,good bat and decent glove....didn't he play for the Omar in Montreal?
  23. From the Daily News ] According to sources, Girardi has also been in contact with YES Network officials, who advised him against taking the Baltimore job, as more attractive positions should be open after the season. You know things are bad for your club when a one year manager turns you down... Jerry Manuel might have a shot with this.
  24. DP.
  25. Jason Schmidt done for the season,he had major shoulder surgery in LA on June 20th. ] Dodgers trainer Stan Conte said Schmidt had surgery to repair an inflamed bursa, a torn labrum and a frayed biceps tendon in his right shoulder. Both the labrum tear and the frayed tendon were unexpected. Conte said the torn labrum is the most serious aspect of the surgery, performed in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. "The rehab has to go slower," Conte explained. "It has to attach back to the bone and that takes some time. The whole process is slowed down." Seems like just about anything that can be injured in his shoulder is.
