    I share the same last name as one former Met great of recent vintage , although the spelling is slightly different , which probably disqualifies me. This player might well be known more for being a MFY great now though. OK it seems to me that Duan's last name is Stokes....and he works for Hot Press who's long time editor shares that last name , although I can't imagine him as a baseball fan.

    I saw a scroll today that in 19 of his 23 starts Santana has given up 3 or fewer runs, obviously the bullpen is a weak point right now. Of course that is not all on the bullpen , offense too.

    More likely Ben is that people will bring up how closer by committee failed in Boston a few years ago.

    The article claims that Giles cleared National League waivers and that after Boston only Tampa and the Angels can lay claims. I didn't know it worked like that , first you clear your own league then you go to the AL.

    Manuel said last night Wright would be playing today.I think less gallivanting around the city with Beers would be a help.

    I just knew that the All Star break wold be a pain in the arse for this team , been playing like rubbish since then. There was a bit in the Snooze today saying not to expect Church back this season.

    Rays have an amazing home record - 44 - 17 , I hope they win the division as they could be a tough team in the playoffs. It can't be good news that Joba is going to Dr. Andrews right from the get go , or did he see Dr. Altchek and was then sent there?

    ] First Shea curtain call since Maine's homer last summer. That's a surprise to me. ]Crowd was booing Heilman before he ever threw a pitch. Not good. I can of course understand the boos after the homers but the caustic atmosphere is making me really see just how stupid so many of the fans are. Darling mentioned as Heilman was about to start his inning with a walk that " this crowd tonight is ravenous so he needs to throw a strike" , rough stuff.
